It's not rational and is pretty much exclusively hormonal/chemical. I can call myself down but it's easier to take something that will prevent it from happening in the first place.

Thanks for the suggestion of Unisom, PB. I'll look into it, because there's only so long I can use klonopin or ativan before I'll need to abstain. Klonopin kills my digestive system too, it's hard to eat for basically 24 hours after I take it.
The tea doesn't actually make you sleepy. It does calm racing thoughts, which is my problem as well. The five minute ritual of making the tea and just breathing in the steam, and finding my happy place is far better than staring at the ceiling at 3 a.m. for 4 hours stressing about every unhappy detail that ever happened in my life.

My mom went out of town and I was watching her cat... Cat starts acting real weird and I took her to the vet - liver and kidney failure! Had to put her down.

I wasn't very close to the cat, but it made me feel so bad for my mom because she never got a chance to say goodbye.

I don't take ambien anymore, I was enjoying myself too much/doing stupid things when I didn't go immediately to bed.
I'm definitely wary of them myself but nothing else was helping. If I was in an active medicinal or legalized state I'd go with vaporizing trees but I don't so that's a nope.

My wife has insomnia sometimes because she's a worry wart about the smallest issues.. and it's either Advil PM (if she has a headache) or Unisom and she goes out like a light. I've used Unisom a few times when I couldn't get to sleep and it knocks me completely out and I don't feel like total shit when I wake up.

My dog went outside and rolled around in poop in the middle of the night, then came back in and jumped up on my bed. I was half asleep petting him when the smell hit me.
You had better pay your guild dues before you forget. You are 113 months behind.

She was around 10 or so. I think she was the runt, because she was always really small for a cat - maybe she was older, and the shelter thought she was a kitten.

My uncle who is married to my aunt who had major brain surgery in early July went to the hospital this morning for either a heart attack or a stroke.

My friend wanted me to enter a promotion/contest with her. Basically, you go and purchase an ice cream product at all 43 participating ice cream shops throughout the state of NH, and get a sticker from each one. You have about two months to complete this. Then, all the people who completed it will be put in for a drawing for a 1 year membership at a crappy health club.

Doing the math, that's about $200 of ice cream and a minimum $500 of direct vehicle expenses if you schedule your route efficiently. All for the very real possibility of getting much fatter, and the slight chance of winning a $240 health club membership. On weekends, during peak foliage season, sharing the road with leaf peepers! This is pretty much my definition of hell.

I told her she could count on me for a single road trip with a single stop for ice cream.

You do it for the journey, not the destination.
