    Would it surprise anyone to know that there are Indian schools that use the name "Redskins"?

    Sorry libbies, you haven't convinced me of anything except that you're upset.

    We aren't living in a dictatorship where rules are handed down arbitrarily or at the whim of some despot.
    I am not sure you understand what the First Amendment means.

    Also.. if you want to go with Majority rules... then so far the Majority seems to be in favor of Redskins.

    The People we elect, are SUPPOSED to take our opinion into account, and not just hand down dictates from above. So the American people say the name is ok, therefor to bad so sad. I kinda like your thinking Back!

    Don't forget that Oklahoma means "Red People" in Choctaw (A Native American tribe).

    I am waiting for these people to demand the name change of a State. Until they do.. they are just a bunch of assholes in my book.

    Redskin = slur
    Oklahoma = not a slur

    You might as well insist that anyone against slurs ought to campaign to rename the Black Mountains.

    Self-reported automated telephone interviews which then extrapolate their results to be the average for the entire nation always (always!) have methodological issues. Especially PPP. I certainly wouldn't base my viewpoint on it or use it as a source in an argument, even if the results were the other way around.

    What's that in the distance, is that a shifting goalpost? How very shocking.

    The sort of controls on speech you seem to be supporting are the very foundations for such a dictatorship you seem to be against.

    Whether you like it or not, there's no law against racial slurs. Nor should there be. If they offend you, don't hang around people who use them. It is not, never has been, and God willing never will be the job of (this) government to tell it's citizens what they can and cannot say.
    An odd part about this comment suddenly occurred to me last night. Even putting aside the fact that this government tells its citizens exactly that, is this even a case of that? No government official is telling Mr. Snyder he has to change the name, or even that he can't use slurs. They're only telling him he can't trademark such language. Is that an infringement on freedom of speech? I haven't trademarked this post, does it therefore not constitute free speech?
