It's shifty to be changing things... I'm surprised it can circumvent due process. However, I think the republicans really need to start offering ways to fix and improve the bill rather than just constantly arguing against it's existence, and focusing in on one particular issue and nitpicking.

Obama has been changing the law since the day it became a political liability. Waiver this group, waiver that group, delay this, delay that, etc... This is nothing new at all.

And the Republicans only need to let this thing get going.. by 2016 it'll be the big failure it obviously is and they can make the Democrats run on their voting record.

Honestly, I think the worst thing that could happen is the Republicans taking the Senate this year. I personally think if that happens, Hillary WILL run, and likely win. Because they will point out that America doesn't wan Republicans in country of both houses AND the Presidency. Whereas if they don't win the Senate, Hillary may not run at all. Usually people don't like one party in power so long.

This Obamacare just keeps getting better. Keep in mind, it's pretty much brand new and look at all the good it's doing.

TRENTON — The first look at the Affordable Care Act’s impact on New Jersey reveals the percentage of uninsured people is on track to reach its lowest level in nearly a quarter of a century, according to a new report released Thursday by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

The proportion of uninsured adults decreased 38 percent from September to early March, according to the foundation. That decline is likely to accelerate, knowing that many people waited until the last minute to beat the March 30 enrollment deadline. NJ.COM

It's done such a good job in Kentucky that McConnell's stuck making stupid statements like this.

He's saying that it's so good he wants to use big government to make the exchanges national and take them away from the states.

McConnel is also now admitting that we've had a 25% drop in the uninsured rate. Doesn't sound like "destruction" to me.

Friday, in a joint news conference with fellow Republican U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, McConnell pointed to a report from the Congressional Budget Office that said the Affordable Care Act reduced the number of uninsured people nationwide to 30 million from 40 million.

"What is the cost-benefit ratio of this kind of destruction, the impact on our 16 percent of the economy, to have such a marginal reduction at the end of the day?" he said. "I think people of this state are entitled to know the answer to the question, how do you feel about it?"

Just to throw some anecdotal shit your way, I was talking to someone yesterday who said her company told her and her coworkers that because of Obamacare their premiums would increase by 3% every year on their birthday.

Now that's affordable!

Glad you brought that up though I'm scratching my head trying to figure out what you're saying. It sounds like you're saying "The law is only working as intended because it's a law!"

Why does it rise on the person's birthday? Does your friend say? I've usually been self employed but I think that all the insurance I've had from employers changes each year on Jan. 1 or whatever the annual enrollment period is. I believe the insurer has to file with the insurance regulator to show what the rates are going to be for the next year.

In any case, 3% might not be out of line with what's been happening to rates. I don't know how to do this calculation. What's the annual increase in the numbers from the paragraph below?

I'm not sure if you're joking, but the historical rate of inflation is 3.3%. She's getting out ahead of the game, well ahead if health care premiums happened to be a widget that exceeded average inflation. And as it turns out:

What's the annual increase in the numbers from the paragraph below?

Inflation works by multiplying every year, so you would do x^11 = 1.62, x = 1.045, 4.5%. What makes it even more striking is that it so happens that the rate of inflation for 2000 to 2010 was only 2.5%. This begs the question, why would businesses peg the premium increase to only 3% rather than 4 or 5? And some people can see this for what it really is...

It would be a great accomplishment if Obamacare actually lowered the costs of healthcare/premiums and because of that more people wanted to get health insurance all on their own. But forcing people to get health insurance then saying "Look! The uninsured rate is going down!" It's like...what?
