You're right. But when those same scientists are yelling and screaming that if something isn't done the world as we know it will end, it's scientifically prudent to stop doing the refined research for a bit and start trying to solve the immediate problem.

But then again, science and common sense rarely ever mix.

There is also nothing that says they all have to stop doing the refined research either, but most likely should and instead focus their energy and our money on other things.

Well the fix is the problem. It's expensive which is why we have debate on the subject and why it's politicized. As long as deniers can keep the conversation at this level, none of the companies/people they represent are going to lose a dime. Once society shifts into thinking that this is really a big deal that has to be taken care of all bets are off.

They really are. They are the little lambs of climate change. We could put them in time-out but they don't listen.

That could be, or it could be that the press has grossly exaggerated scientific commentary. Have you ever heard a scientist yell or scream about anything? Classic introverts. And come on, what are the chances I'm actually right about something? Slim to none.

This is my second point, though. A 50 year old climatologist is going to study the climate, in the same way a 50 year old mechanic is going to mechanize. Changing focus means changing career, and in scientific fields that's just not plausible. It would be like asking a 30 year old basketball player to try and play baseball after not doing so for 15 years, the overwhelming majority of basketball players can't pull that off. "Science" is just as broad a heading as "sports".

Now, what we spend our money on is obviously a different story.

In that case, can you tell me roughly how much CO2 or whatever other supposedly "evil" gases are released into the atmosphere during your average volcanic eruption then, since you obviously possess some sort of knowledge that you can equate it to basically nothing?

Even if we're responsible for 100% of it, there isn't one person in Washington who has any ideas on how to fix it that would either solve nothing and only make things worse for everybody.

    2) This isn't an example that supports your claim. The guy is withholding his alumni donations to the school in protest of their decision, not suing them or advocating them to be forced by law to recognize or perform same-sex marriages.

My response to you in the other thread:

You have produced no examples. Since you're ignorant, I'll repeat: There are no marriage equality advocacy groups in the US that advocate requiring private institutions to marry same-sex couples, period.
What is your obsession with bold font?

Can't tell if you are trying to be funny or what.

But I am sure even you realize that natural disasters are the primary drivers of climate change. Period.

If Yellow Stone erupts.. I THINK even you will admit that it will cause more "climate change" then every human for the past 200 years. namely all the small particles in the upper atmosphere will cause a global cooling.

Personally.. I think this is how nature corrects itself. Pesky humans getting to uppity... blow your top (literally in some cases) problem solved for a few hundred/thousand years.

Didn't you know that we're the reason dinosaurs are extinct? Get with it man, you're slacking.
