Who fucking wrote this bill?!

Honestly, you are NO more doomed under an HSA then you are under a bronze or Silver plan from Obamacare. Infact, you are much worse off, since those don't GIVE an HSA.
So if an HSA damages the rest of the industry, then what does the Bronze and silver plans do under Obamacare? Since they don't even offer a tax free way to save money towards future medical expenses.
He immediately preceded that comment by saying "There is no question that the dysfunction in Washington ... is taking its toll on everyone" and followed it by saying "That's not satisfactory for us." I don't know what you people want from the man.

America, stop pushing. I know what I'm doing.

President Barack Obama on Thursday asked health insurance companies to allow individuals whose current plans have been canceled due to the Affordable Care Act to renew them for a year.
A one year delay huh...gee that sure sounds familiar.
Uh I haven't kept up with this entire thread, but HSA's doom nothing, except rampant medical cost inflation, which we sorta want to doom.
HSAs fix the moral hazard problem of the third party payment system which, more than anything else, reduces normal market price signals and is to blame for the high rate of medical cost inflation. It doesn't fix the problem entirely, but it is better than anything else we currently have.
Someone with a catastrophic injury does fine under an HSA, they're always paired with high deductible health insurance accounts (by law). Which actually tend to offer better benefits once that deductible is reached. So if you get impaled by a fence post and have $100,000 in medical bills you're as fine under an HSA as you'd be under anything else.
The whole overall goal behind an HSA is to get the patient involved in more of his or her own healthcare spending decisions for mundane planned smaller expenses, incentivizing them to reduce unnecessary consumption or shop around on price when possible. And if you're healthy for a number of years you can bank that for later.
I find it politically convenient considering he is trying to get past the next elections. I wonder, sometime, if Obama has ever had an apolitical thought.
I would ask the progressives out there how they feel about a chief executive who seems to think he can make laws, edit laws, and waive laws from the executive branch without the participation of the legislative branch. As much as you love Obama and would carry his water to Nepal and back, you must realize that he will not always be president and the odds are 99.99% that in your lifetime you will have a president you disagree with and do you think it is wise to be establishing this sort of executive power? Think about it.
