I get it. Sometimes I have wished Texas leave and return to the independent sovereign nation it once was. Reality is though, that wouldn’t happen without a war. Also, it would leave both countries much weaker.

I propose instead a better solution. This is an opportunity for you to come to our side or agree on certain principles. Our federal government needs to be small & lean. It exists for national defense, interstate commerce, foreign trade, etc. It does not exist to be the bloated monster that it has grown into. We all share values outlined in our Constitution. Beyond that, let each state operate & govern as they see fit. Let California be California and Texas be Texas. It’s ok that we are different.
No state can stand by itself. If California decided to succeed, there would be a West Virginia situation where the entire agricultural part of the state (The Republican majority parts) would just make a new state that stayed loyal. Then the rest of California would be fucked. No to mention they wouldn't be getting anymore water from the rest of the US.

Texas would equally be fucked. It has a great economy because of trade treaties the US has. Those all go away if it left. It would have to negotiate a treaty just to trade with Louisiana or Oklahoma. Mexico would probably see it as a chance to try and fuck them up too. Texas would only have the guard, and most of the assets the guard has are owned by the US Army, and would be taken back.

And don't even forget the mass migrations of people getting the fuck out of any state that decided they wanted out.

You wouldn't need a war, they'd be begging to be back into the US.

I mostly agree. Texas has a ton of natural resources and could theoretically be self sustainable as our own, but to your point it would suck. We’re also a prideful people with a history of kicking Mexico in the dick, but it would require a mass mobilization & industry changes to build up our defenses. Maybe we could do it, maybe we couldn’t…either way life would be much worse. I’m a Texan and a proud American.

You can't even make this shit up.

A bunch of Democrats fled to Massachusetts to protest the redistricting plans in Texas and the governor held a press conference to talk about how Texas and Trump are a threat to our democracy.

At one point a reporter asked the governor if Massachusetts was going to redraw their own state's districts in response to Texas and the governor said they just did and it was a fair and ordinary process and they followed the rules, then called up the Secretary of State to talk on the matter.

The first words out of the Secretary of State's mouth: "We have no Republicans to give."

And this got a laugh out of everyone in the room.

Yes that's right! Texas Republicans redoing their districts is a threat to our democracy! Massachusetts Democrats doing their districts in such a way that they get 80% of the vote yet 100% of the seats and that is funny!

Also going back to the year 2000 Democrats have received anywhere from 60%-80% of the vote for House members in each and every election yet they have always received 100% of the seats. But remember it's funny when Democrats deny Republicans any representation!

The real crime in this story is that it took Republicans this long to finally fight back and only at the urging of Trump.

I look forward to hearing Dems explain how excluding illegal aliens from our next census is actually a threat to our democracy.

You have no idea how many liberal friends I have on FB who are whining about this and saying Democrats need to stop trying to be the better party and fight dirty too. When I tell them they have literally been doing this for two hundred years they get all pissy.
