Of course, there is also the Fair Tax, which I kinda like. It removes all income taxes, and creates a high tax rate on goods sold. IRS no longer worries about individual citizens, but rather, businesses only.

That's a slightly more feasible option, similar to a VAT only on the tangible good. Problem being, so many businesses don't have tangible good but rather a service and the value of those services are subjective. Instead of levying a tax on a defined salary, business profit, you're going to have to create a price structure on services.

Or we could just keep the existing system, collect all those unpaid taxes and find some middle ground between raising taxes and cutting services to return to balanced budgets.
