I don't hate myself at all. I worked my ass off to get where I am.

I think privilege is mostly economic. I'm grateful that my kids will start from the top of the mountain instead of where I started. I don't think it's fair, and I think we'd all be better off if we didn't systemically reward economic privilege, but I'm not going to sabotage my kids to right a wrong system.

All that said, I've got two sweet kale chopped kit salads in the produce drawer. I'm questioning all my life decisions now.

I have no idea of what's being discussed right now (I haven't read the previous 15 pages or so), but isn't that how migrant workers...work? It seems like that happens with some kind of regularity, from the farms I've worked on and grown up around. There was always at least one worker or family on each farm that was an illegal immigrant, doing farm work for rides to and from the grocery store, room, board, and pay. The one who lived on the farm I worked on was from Bangladesh, not Mexico, but same idea. He lived in a trailer on the farm and sent all his cash back to his family in Bangladesh, who no doubt lived like royalty on it. Great worker, nice guy. Would recommend.

Also, the situation you're describing, where a family shows up at the door and starts asking for a place to stay is not one I'm familiar with unless it's as above, looking for work, and that's in an industry where that's the norm. I've housed a family briefly, or really, just allowed them to share my apartment for a few months, and it's not like they just showed up at the door. I knew the man through work. He should've followed the naturalization process, yeah. His wife should have as well. But they were good people on the whole so it wasn't really a problem for me. They had kids, and those kids deserved the opportunity to not live on the street. The guy was kind of a prick, but a good guy overall. If he'd been a citizen with a health plan or whatever he would've probably been diagnosed with bipolar disorder or one of those other mood swing diseases. I dunno. I'm not a doctor. He was kind of a douche sometimes is what I'm getting at. The family on the whole were good people though. They paid what they could while they got back on their feet and were thankful for what was done for them. The fact that they were undocumented didn't factor into any of the decision-making, and I'd have done everything the same if I had it all to do over again.

I'm not actually sure if we even have a formal alliance with Mexico. We have treaties and trade agreements, but we have those with pretty much every nation on this planet. We are in some of the same organizations. I don't think any of them are considered alliances.

Mexico has no alliance with the US and has not since WWII when we were mainly importing labor from them in exchange for assurance that we wouldn't try to topple their revolutionary government when we were done fighting Tojo. They aren't part of NATO. The last agreement we had with them to help them help us was to help us help ourselves to the parts of Mexico we wanted to invade and annex in the 1840s.

Canada is one of our closest allies, being both an actual ally, and geopolitically close to us. Mexico, not so much. We already took the parts of that we wanted.

This time a woman who claims Trump raped her in the 90's. Well she's now saying it wasn't "rape", but an "attack", but a CNN host was kind enough to correct her and say she was raped.

So in the 90's, in an upscale department store in NY that was apparently empty during business hours except for Trump and her, Trump forced her into a dressing room and attacked her. She was 52 at the time.

Here are some of the crazy things she has said:

She refuses to press charges against Trump because it would be unfair to all of the migrant women being raped around the clock in detention facilities at the border.

She said before the attack she wished she had asked to see Trump's tax returns, because that totally makes sense in the context of the 90's and is not a talking point from today.

And the latest crazy thing she said yesterday which might result in the last time she appears on CNN. She said the word "rape" carries so many sexual connotations, Anderson Cooper, in an effort to steer her away from sounding crazy, said "I think most people think of rape as a violent assault", she shot back immediately with "I think most people think of rape as being sexy, think of the fantasies."
