The judge also sealed the court records from the grand jury meaning we will never see the evidence that led the grand jury to recommend 16 counts of disorderly conduct. I’m sure we will see news pundits, Democrat politicians, and celebrities demand this information be released to the public so we can all see the evidence for ourselves. Any day now I’m sure...

Oh and those who claimed no one was on Smollett’s side? There are plenty of actors already saying they never trusted the Chicago police department to begin with. Almost as if this is playing out like I said it would, the DA threw the police under the bus like read meat for Smollett’s rabid defenders.

Let it go, just admit you were wrong about Smollett the entire time and move on already. Eesh

Smollett basically has no career to go back to. I mean, he might've been cleared of all charges and his record expunged. The internet won't forget it. Neither will people when they slam whatever project has him along. Sure, they might support him for a bit but nobody can handle that forever. Eventually he'll either do it again or fade off into nothing but a meme.

Also the Chicago police are asking the feds to investigate Foxx (the AG who originally recused herself from the case then stepped back in to drop all charges) because they believe she dropped the charges for political reasons on behalf of a friend of Michelle Obama who asked the charges be dropped.

Apparently Foxx was in contact with a friend of Michelle Obama's AND with members of Smollett's family. How has she not been prosecuted already? Imagine a PROSECUTOR in regular contact with a SUSPECT's family. She did the right thing by recusing herself to begin with, but then takes over again just to drop all charges? "Justice."

This thing continues to reek of corruption the more I read about it.

An assistant state's attorney says they did not exonerate Smollett and they saw no problems with the police investigation. Instead the charges were dropped in exchange for Smollett doing community service and agreeing to forfeit his 10k bond.

Since when the fuck is this how things work? There is supposed to be a plea agreement in place where a judge has to agree to the plea agreement and the suspect has to agree to plead guilty to some sort of crime. But I have never heard of all charges being dropped in exchange for some community service (which I read was 16 hours), a small fine (for Smollett), and the suspect never has to plead guilty to anything and can walk away without a criminal record.

What a fucking mess.

It's crazy. Imagine far leftists' heads exploding if Manafort got to walk away without a criminal record after doing 16 hours of community service and having his 20 million dollars in assets seized. I would be pissed too because that's not how this is supposed to work. This is beyond corruption. Even Rahm Emanuel sees the corruption plain as day and has had the balls to call it out.

A direct quote from the lead prosecutor on this case: "The fact that (Smollett) feels that we have exonerated him, we have not. I can’t make it any clearer than that."

So why the hell did you let him get away without prosecuting him?

Another direct quote from this guy when asked "Do you believe he is innocent?" His answer: "I do not believe he is innocent."

I think he's guilty and got off with less than a wrist slap for what he did - but I also think all the musings on Foxx and Obama is just partisan craziness until someone comes up with real proof of it. For sure someone got paid off or did a favor for someone with big pull... but without proof of something, it's no better than the bullshit grinder Trump has been put through. I'd rather just not watch the show or anything with him in it (frankly never heard of him before all this anyway). He'll fade into obscurity.

As with Trump, I say prove it or move on. Or Kavanaugh. Or Virginia Governor, Asst Governor or pick your disgraced (but not really, book deal and insta wealth incoming) politician of the day. I'm tired of people just throwing shade like that's proof.

You can be skeptical all you want, but Chicago-Sun Times has access to the emails and text messages between Foxx and Michelle Obama's friend due to a public records request. Foxx then admits that Michelle's friend, Tina Tchen, put her in touch with a family member of Jussie Smollett, which is why she originally recused herself from the investigation.

https://chicago.suntimes.com/?post_type=cst_article&p=1971768

So again this isn't just some wild conspiracy theory people are making up, this has been documented and admitted to by Foxx herself. What hasn't been admitted or proven is that Foxx dropped the charges as a personal favor, but I mean come on, let's get real.

The text messages show Foxx told both Tchen and Smollett’s relative that Foxx had reached out to Johnson personally about handing the investigation off to the FBI.

“Spoke to the superintendent earlier. He is going to make the ask. Trying to figure out logistics. I’ll keep you posted,” Foxx wrote the relative that evening.

“OMG this would be a huge victory,” the relative texted in reply.

Defense lawyer and Chicago-Kent College of Law professor Richard Kling said that it would not be unusual for prosecutors to reach to police during an investigation, though it is likely rare that a victim would get the state’s attorney’s personal phone number. Foxx’s decision to recuse, once it became clear that Smollett was likely to be facing charges, was appropriate, Kling said.

“I don’t think it is odd or rare for prosecutors to talk to police, or for (Foxx) herself to ask what is going on in a particular case,” Kling said. “And, once she realized she had talked to a family member who may have given her information about a pending case, recusing herself was exactly the right thing to do.”

Supposedly Foxx didn't make the decision to drop all charges yet her office is the one who put out this message: "State's Attorney Kim Foxx's office says, "After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of the case, including Mr. Smollett's volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case.""

Everything the grand jury did was sealed yesterday. Today people were filing FOIA requests with the police to see their files/investigation on the matter and a judge put a stop to it almost immediately.

This is anything but normal behavior at this point. Everything points to a massive cover up now. It's almost as if this never happened, which is strange because Jussie still maintains he was attacked by two racist Trump supporters shouting MAGA country, why is he okay with this all being swept under the rug?

In a surprise hearing Tuesday, Joe Magats, the first assistant state's attorney in Cook County, Illinois, announced he decided to drop charges against Smollett. The stunning reversal 18 days after a grand jury indicted the "Empire" actor on felony disorderly conduct outraged the Chicago mayor and police department.
The decision to drop the charges does not mean the actor was innocent or any new evidence was presented, Magats told CNN affiliate WLS.
"We believe he did what he was charged with doing," he said. "This was not an exoneration. To say he was exonerated by us or anyone else is not true."

Now it makes sense why Foxx's office (the AG who supposedly recused herself) released the statement about the charges being dropped. Foxx didn't recuse herself in the legal sense, because if she had then state law would have mandated a special prosecutor take over the case. Instead it was more of an informal "recusal" so her office could still be the ones making decisions about the case.

This is just so blatant now. But something tells me no one will be fired, no one will be forced to resign, and no one will even be charged with a crime. The mafia didn't disappear from Chicago, they just became politicians.

Look at that. The ones that have been resolved already all had to plead guilty, were given sentences, and were given criminal records. They were also only facing 1 felony county.

Smollett meanwhile was facing 16 felony counts, took only 33 days to resolve the case, he didn't have to plead guilty, he wasn't given a criminal record, and he wasn't really given a sentence. Having to forfeit his bail hardly counts as a "sentence."

They'll try to argue that since the charges were dropped and Jussie wasn't given a sentence that the police and city were conspiring against him or some shit. It could actually work. Of course the city could argue they had all of the evidence they needed to convict him. Just depends on if they get a sympathetic judge and jury.

And yet he was a beautiful lady
Nearly drove you insane

And so you kissed a little sailor

Who had just blew in from Spain
Sir Richard Pump-A-Loaf
You sniffed the reeking buns of Angel
The story of a demented bread-boffer
And acted like it was cocaine
Cucumber pud annexed to a fine whole-wheat loaf
You were dazzled by the exciting new costume of Ko-Ko
Then on Tuesday night, Caesar's back in town
In a way you can't explain
Facing off in a no-holds-barred tag team grudge match
With Kona.
And so you worked the wall with Michael
Three-hundred-seventy-nine pounds of Samoan dynamite
Which gave your back an awful strain
Volcanic Hell
But you came back on Sunday for the gong show
Next Thursday, teen town's finest...
But you forgot what I was sayin'

Didn't take long for Rahm Emanuel to revert back to his far left ways. He is now saying Trump is to blame for Jussie Smollett faking a hate crime.

Isn't that a real kick in the teeth? Smollett claims he was the victim of a hate crime and blames Trump, then once evidence comes out that he faked the hate crime Trump is then blamed for Smollett faking the hate crime.

Also Foxx, the one that "recused" herself from the case, published an op ed in the Chicago Tribune. Here are the more laughable parts:

So, why isn’t Smollett in prison or at least on trial? There are two different answers to this, both equally important.

First, the law. There were specific aspects of the evidence and testimony presented to the office that would have made securing a conviction against Smollett uncertain. In determining whether or not to pursue charges, prosecutors are required to balance the severity of the crime against the likelihood of securing a conviction. For a variety of reasons, including public statements made about the evidence in this case, my office believed the likelihood of securing a conviction was not certain.

Hey that's fine. That's why there are these little things called plea bargains, perhaps being a prosecutor you've heard of those before? Maybe?

In the interest of full transparency, I would prefer these records be made public. However, in this case, Illinois law allows defendants in certain circumstances to request that public records remain sealed. Smollett chose to pursue that avenue, and so my office is barred from releasing those records without his approval.

What an absolute lie. Like a defendant can just say "Yeah, seal those records, bitch!" And the DA's office is "barred" from releasing those records without his approval? That's not how this works at all. Outside of juvenile cases (which to be fair Smollett has the maturity of a juvenile) it's almost impossible to get records sealed and the prosecution can sure as shit fight against the request that the records be sealed. Ultimately the judge has the final say, but if the prosecution isn't even going to contest the sealing of the records, as was the case here, then most likely the judge is going to go ahead and grand the defendant's request.

A black man threw a 5 year old white boy off a third floor balcony at the Mall of America earlier today.

Strangely enough the news on this died down slightly after the media realized it was a black man and not a white man in a MAGA hat. Also I dare anyone to find a single reference to the boy's skin color or the man's skin color in any news article.

But it was in the news cycle 24/7 with what a bunch of racists the Covington Catholic school boys were for standing there and doing nothing. Interviews with noted liar Nathan Phillips were on every news station. It was mentioned how brave he was for standing up to the face of racism in a 15 year old boy wearing a MAGA hat.

Yet a black man throwing a white child off a balcony? Sure, it's being reported, but not nearly to the extent the Covington Catholic smear campaign was.

If I didn't know any better I would say the media has an agenda to push and people such as Back and Androidpk are all too happy to help them push said agenda. But I'm sure that's just all in my head.

Because I'm racist.

There is a photo of the suspect floating around and the GoFundMe setup for the boy showed a picture of a boy who is white. Granted it's possible that GoFundMe page is just a scam and in no way related to the boy's family but I think GoFundMe shuts down fakes for high profile fundraisers like this pretty quickly these days.

Judge To Appoint Special Prosecutor To Jussie Smollett Case; Prosecutor Could Reinstate Charges

CHICAGO (CBS) — A Cook County judge has ruled a special prosecutor should be appointed to investigate the Jussie Smollett case, saying Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx had no authority to hand it off to her top deputy after announcing she recused herself.

RELATED: Catch Up On CBS 2’s Coverage Of The Smollett Case

A special prosecutor would be allowed to bring new charges against the “Empire” actor if there are “reasonable grounds” to do so, Judge Michael Toomin ruled.

Toomin said Foxx’s contact with a relative of Smollett’s before he was charged did not rise to the level of a conflict of interest. He said she had no authority to appoint her top deputy, First Assistant State’s Attorney Joseph Magats, to oversee the case after announcing she was recusing herself. He said Foxx effectively appointed Magats to a “fictitious” office to serve in her stead.

Oregon's Democrats, who have a clear Senate majority, want to pass landmark climate change legislation. Local Republicans have fled to stop that happening.

This weekend, the state capitol had to shut down altogether amid apparent security threats from militia groups.

So, to PREVENT a majority vote for action on climate change, republicans have gone into hiding so the vote can't happen. The state capitol was SHUT DOWN because of security threats by AMERICAN militias.

Not quite. The top polluting companies are taxed for emissions, an incentive for them to find greener technology, and the money is used to invest in low income communities infrastructure with regard to climate change.

Under a cap-and-trade program, the state puts an overall limit on emissions and auctions off pollution permits or “allowances” for each ton of carbon that industries plan to emit. Only the largest polluters are targeted, and the idea is that as the emissions limit becomes stricter over time, it will be in industries’ financial interest to switch to green technology. Oregon’s program would begin in 2021, and the state wants to reduce emissions to 80% below 1990 levels by 2050.

Most of the money raised — estimated to total $550 million in the first year — would be used to fund a sweeping progressive platform that encourages further emission cuts and prioritizes investments in low-income and tribal communities’ ability to respond to climate change.

The guys who wrote the state constitution, the ones riding penny farthings, wearing top hats, and writing black exclusion laws, literally never envisioned a future where one party would just say 'fuck it' and refuse to do their jobs.

Then why does it work like that? I can't think of any other political situation where people can just simply not show up and the other side can't even vote unless they show up. If this happens in the US congress then their vote just doesn't get counted, but it doesn't prevent the other side from even holding a vote.

At some point they made the rule that if there aren't enough senators at the senate when the vote is held then the vote can't even take place. Unless I'm totally misunderstanding what is happening here.

Neveragain

You're confusing yourself. I never said it was shut down by "militia groups". The Police Superintendant shut it down over what the police said were credible threats from militia groups. Oregon state police have the authority to do what the Governor asked them to do.

I'm no expert, no, but I'm pretty sure its fairly uncommon for state capitals to get shut down by credible threats from American militias.

I don't know why they aren't being treated like terrorists because thats what they are. You can wrap yourself in the American flag but it does not make you any different from any other group that uses threats of violence and fear to go against the majority to get their way.

And this happened because the majority want a cleaner future on this planet? Thats the truly batshit crazy part of all of this.

Your vision of how things should work in no way aligns with how our country was founded. Our government is supposed to live in fear of the people. Unlike the lefts militia (antifa) who rioted in the streets of Washington over an election, the Oregon malitia did nothing.

You totally gloss over the fact that this cunt lives in a 90 year old 11,000 sq. ft. home and is calling to tax people for their carbon emissions. This is Marie Antoinette level of hypocrisy. "Let them drive electric cars!"

Not quite. The top polluting companies are taxed for emissions, an incentive for them to find greener technology, and the money is used to invest in low income communities infrastructure with regard to climate change.

Not even sure what you're rambling about here. Climate change is effecting everyone, the poorest the worst, so it is in everyone's best interest to find solutions to a problem that has been ignored and thus grown for decades.

I think the oil industry should have its subsidies removed entirely and be heavily taxed with that money used towards clean up programs.

Right, because the companies won't just pass the increased cost onto the consumer or lay off workers. And yes, I'm totally sure the money raised will go directly towards helping low income communities and it won't go to waste, fraud, or other pet projects by lawmakers. I know you weren't born yesterday but perhaps it was last week?

Is that really a good reason not to do something about climate change? Why would you not be upset by the companies whose unclean practices are having an effect on the shared future of our lives on this planet in the first place? Instead you are upset by people who want to correct that problem for our better shared future?

You claim the stated law will be skirted and the money not used as the law says it will not be used. While I share your skepticism to a point, and we should watch everything the government does like a hawk, and ask them questions, and hold them accountable, by all means! I do trust that most of the time it works like it should with the checks and balances, oversight, and public access to information to keep them accountable to what they laws that they make for us say.

Yeah, Oregon is responsible for what, 0.10% of the world's total greenhouse gases? The entire state of Oregon can disappear tomorrow and no one will even notice a difference in the amount of greenhouse gases in the air. But let's make sure we rake the poor and middle class over the coals!

This is rationalization against something science has shown us to be true. We have to start somewhere. Every atom makes up a molecule. Every state makes a nation. When this goes global we'll be in a better place with a better future.

Your attitude is why we are here in the first place. So many people have come up with so many reasons why we can't tackle the climate change problem that they just don't do anything. Are people coming up with excuses because they are too lazy to throw a bottle in a different bin? Skepticism of our government, any government, is understandable, but skepticism isn't a good enough reason not to try to accomplish great and necessary things.

The governor also wants the state to visit all homes with newborn children.

People need places to live. Our wonderful system is set up so people can earn money and live and how they can afford. Which is awesome.

In that we need to use the resources of the Earth to build ourselves shelter, and nice shelter, is something we'll have to settle with in terms of how it affects our planet. I think most people would agree. But along with that I doubt that everyone then thinks that means we can pour toxic chemicals into the water supply as being alright. How is that different than producing harmful molecules on a global scale and pouring them into the atmosphere of our little bubble in the universe?

Your question really makes no sense. How is the governor's mansion bad for the environment?

Let's do a mental exercise Backlash.

You live in a 700 sf house that requires 900 kWh to run per month.

I live in a 7000 sf house that requires 9000 kWh to run per month.

Methais lives in a 70000 sf house that requires 90000 kWh to run per month.

Each kWh of energy requires 1 lb of coal that is converted into electricity via steam.

Which house in my example is the most sustainable?

Energy consumption is not the issue. Energy production is.

Not all energy comes from coal. There are sustainable sources in use right now. Solar, wind, hydro, and even geothermal.

A government of the people for the people will help us enact legislation that will move us from obsolete energy production methods towards clean and sustainable energy production methods for the benefit of everyone.

11 people walked out of a state capital to prevent that. A governor used their power to recall them for it. Militia made threats and the state police closed down the state capitol over what they thought was a credible threat against those who are trying to enact the legislation so they, and we by extension, can have a cleaner, better future. Thats a whole lot of bullshit right there.

Energy consumption is not the issue. Energy production is.

Do you know what the word "sustainable" even means?

Not all energy comes from coal. There are sustainable sources in use right now. Solar, wind, hydro, and even geothermal.

In 2018, 63.5% of electricity is generated by fossil fuels. Coal made up almost half of that.

Solar was 1.6%
Wind was 6.6%
Hydro was 7%
Geothermal was .4%

Now... back to our mental exercise: Which home is more sustainable?

Or are you going to virtue signal your way out of recognizing you were dumb and wrong as usual?

A government of the people for the people will help us enact legislation that will move us from obsolete energy production methods towards clean and sustainable energy production methods for the benefit of everyone.

Why do you require government for that?

We are only on the cusp of where we need to be. Coal and oil served their purposes but we now know we need to find cleaner energy. The sun isn't going out soon so there is unlimited energy for us that we need to harness.

Now... back to our mental exercise: Which home is more sustainable?

If you take two identical homes there are going to be variances in how the people who live there use energy. If one of those two houses had 1 LED lightbulb more than the other the one with the LED would be using less energy.

But you aren't really interested in discussion or debate. You're stuck with the stupid "if you believe in helping the environment you should be living in a cave" argument.

Why do you require government for that?

Because unbridled capitalism will eat everything until nothing is left.

But mainly because government is already intertwined into our energy production anyway. Oil companies get massive subsidies. This administration is taking a stance of denying climate science which I think it a crime against humanity.

All of this is besides the point. 11 republicans walked out on their state legislature when the majority wanted to pass legislation that is a solution to a better future. Then militias made threats that shut down a state capitol. Thats bullshit.

So, believing 50% of what I read, tons of liberal people are still calling this murderous lunatic a fucking hero.

Has a single Democrat candidate condemned this yet? I honestly don't know, I haven't watched broadcast television in years now.

Why assume consent in the absence of condemnation? That sounds like you are judging someone guilty without evidence.

Russia? Kavanaugh? any of the hundreds of other things associated with Trump that literally no proof exists of?

Russia. What specifically? Facts show they purposely meddled in our election in favor of Trump.

Fuck off with this false equivalency bullshit. I get it, you hate Trump, don't let that cloud your better judgement and look at the absolute lunacy of the left since 2016 and brush it all off by saying "Meh, Republicans are doing it too."!

What I'm saying has no bearing on how I feel about Trump. I'm not placing blame on him, I'm not even tying this to him.

We're at a place where the far extremes of both sides have become a fear mongering cesspool and a time bomb waiting to go off.

You keep referring to me as a Democrat, but I've voted nearly exclusively for Republicans my entire life.

It is exactly white racist bullshit. Plenty of people have criticisms of the government and how it should work but Trump doesn't go around telling them all to move back to their own countries that are corrupt and crime ridden.

These women are US citizens that have been duly elected by our democratic process. The only reason he has singled them out is because they are women and women of color.

Its very clear why Trump is the PC hate squad's hero though.

That being said. Both extremes are full of retards. Uniting the country needs to be a top priority. So much anger and rage over the stupidest shit these days. Your attitude is part of the problem. It's not just Dems, it's repubs too.

The part you keep ignoring is how the fringe left has become the mainstream left, and the fringe right is at least so far still not the mainstream right.
