James Comey
@Comey
My book is about ethical leadership & draws on stories from my life & lessons I learned from others. 3 presidents are in my book: 2 help illustrate the values at the heart of ethical leadership; 1 serves as a counterpoint. I hope folks read the whole thing and find it useful.

Jim's not pulling any punches.

You do realize Mueller has proof that Mike Cohen went to Prague to meet with Putin's spymaster. And before you say "no! he just went on a little holiday that's all!" then why the fuck would he so vehemently deny deny deny for the past year about going there in the first place?

He might be vehemently denying it because Mueller is saying he did something he didn't?

I would.

Don't know if it's true or not.. but this wouldn't be Mueller's first investigation where he assumed guilt and investigated towards that goal.

It doesn't work that way for most people who are germaphobes. Stupid things like shaking hands is unbearable.. but fucking a porn star is different.

I have a slight case of it.. I'll kiss my wife 100 times a day, but the thought of drinking from her drink makes me uneasy. It's a stupid phobia, but one you can't help.

Not really. She is guaranteed to be clean and STD free, seeing as it is a requirement in the porno industry.

Guaranteed? You're smart enough not to say something so stupid just to try to defend your boy trump.

A study of 168 adult industry actors in Los Angeles County found that 28 percent, or 47 actors, tested positive for either gonorrhea or chlamydia or both.
The report said that in the adult industry, “Undiagnosed asymptomatic ... STIs were common and are likely reservoirs for transmission to sexual partners inside and outside the workplace.” The study was conducted in 2010 and written by six public health experts affiliated with the LA County Department of Public Health, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and UCLA.
...
The STD rate among porn actors is significantly higher than among legal prostitutes in Nevada, said the report, because Nevada law requires that prostitutes wear condoms and be tested weekly for disease.
Since those rules for Nevada brothels went into effect in 1988, the report said, there have been no cases of HIV infection and a negligible rate of STDs, the Los Angeles Times reports.
In contrast, just since 2004, there have been eight HIV cases among adult film performers. In 2011, porn production halted for nearly a week after an actor tested positive for HIV. In August of this year, there was a 10-day moratorium on porn filming because of a syphilis outbreak among actors (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/01/la-porn-stars-stds-nevada-prostitutes-study-video_n_2058406.html).

No one cares about his sex life except butthurt liberal hypocrites.

We care about his sex life if it involves a foreign enemy having kompromat on him- which is the actual point.

And it's honestly ridiculous to sit around and say "No one cares!" to things that are all over the news, being talked about on the circuit, and that involve a hugely anticipated interview ahead of the release of the #1 Selling book on Amazon. And you say that about things you are actively in a conversation about (albeit not in a useful or even particularly mature way).

Though I realize you likely high five yourself after inexplicably repeating the same drivel several times a day- it's actually pathetic. And it's really hard not to feel bad for a grown adult who is so threatened by other opinions that he has to try to police an online politics forum but who is simultaneously too intimidated to actually engage in a political conversation.

Though I will grant you this- unlike Rockstar and Parkbandit- at least you recognize that you're not informed enough to discuss these things like an adult.

Obviously the coastal liberal elites are working with the deep state to oppress the "real" american working man.

The thing is, they actually sort of believe that.

The liberal elites have co-opted the mainstream media, which- as a part of its secret mission to destroy conservatives- has created inaccurate fact checking sites that intentionally mislead people into believing liberal things. And the only media you can trust to be impartial is the conservative media with blatantly partisan goals- because they said so.

And all of these corrupt liberal media elites are working clandestinely with a secretive Deep State in the Department of Justice- compromised of career officials and Trump appointees- to make Hillary Clinton President and to take down Donald Trump.

Because the notion that the Trump campaign did things that were very suspicious and warranted investigation for the safety of our country, or that our spying laws weren't written to imprison a Secretary of State who used a private email server with no illicit intentions...

I mean, that just sounds crazy.

Don't get me wrong, Democrats lie too. My two biggest pet peeves are:

1) Most people are going to see their taxes go up under the new tax bill: huge distortion. (http://www.politifact.com/new-york/statements/2017/dec/22/kirsten-gillibrand/will-republican-tax-law-raise-middle-class-taxes/) Most of them will eventually have taxes that are higher than they would be today since the individual tax breaks are set to expire. But A) The spin cycle has implied that the increase would be immediate, and B) the individual tax cuts could be extended down the line- which would make the statement false.

2) 28 millions of people would lose their health insurance if we repeal the ACA: Also a distortion. (http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2017/jan/05/what-would-be-impact-if-affordable-care-act-repeal/) Most of those 28 million people people would absolutely lose their insurance, but that number also includes people who would voluntarily declined health insurance. (We're talking about people who could afford it but choose not to)

I love Rachel Maddow- she's the only opinion news show I'll watch (and the only explicitly liberal news source I allow myself to consume with any regularity), but she used that second distortion a lot. And it was very disappointing.

The ACA Repeal and the GOP Tax Bill came with enough accurate ammunition to criticize them- there was no need to distort the reality of their impact.

Cha-ching!

Comey should give Trump a cut.

The early sales figures for Mr. Comey’s book dwarfed other recent political best sellers. Hillary Clinton’s memoir, “What Happened,” sold more than 300,000 copies in all formats in its first week on sale. And “Fire and Fury,” Michael Wolff’s explosive look inside the Trump White House, sold around 200,000 hardcover copies in its first full week on sale, according to NPD BookScan, which tracks about 85 percent of print sales. Mr. Wolff’s book, which came out in January, has sold more than 2 million copies to date.

Mr. Comey has no doubt benefited from wall-to-wall television coverage. He has given revealing interviews on every major news network, drawing angry tweets from President Trump, which in turn prompted more news coverage of the book. That cycle will likely drag on as Mr. Comey continues his book promotion tour this week with an appearance at a CNN Town Hall and an interview on Fox News Channel.

Makes sense. Liberal media has been covering the memos as evidence of Comey's honesty because his testimony was so consistent with the memos- which is actually an odd argument that proves very little. Consistency isn't the same thing as truth.

And conservative media has been covering the memos as examples of Comey being a criminal leaker who can't be trusted- which completely ignores the facts that his testimony matched the unredacted portions of the memos. (And also the cover letter on the memos)

And so the treadmill of public opinion continue its frantic flailing in no direction.

I wonder about this. What if the polls were right? The margin of loss was specific and razor thin. They say the Russians hacked voting machines, but didn't do anything. Maybe they only wanted to see if they could, maybe they wanted to get ready for the next one or maybe they did tip a few votes. Until there is reporting that they did it, I won't believe they changed votes, but it's definintely a concern. In the meantime, without the hacking, they did enough damage with WikiLeaks/hacks, Social Media and pushing all of Clinton's opponents.

The media has a ton of blame in this election loss (and the FBI/Comey). I'd watch Scarborough or Anderson Cooper and get so pissed that they kept reporting on Clinton's email bullshit while chuckling along to Trump's crazy antics; giving him tons of air time. They also religiously (especially on CNN) had panels of equal #'s trump and Clinton people and they gave the trumpsters unchecked airtime to spin the fuck out of all his crap. The 4th estate failed us. Ultimately the blame lies squarely on the American citizens who voted to put trump in office. He's liar, a bungler, has strange psychological problems and he didn't hide it. We all knew he was a shitty used car salesman, yet we bought the car.

She sure did. That's not how the presidential election is decided, though. You have to play by the rules of the game, not by the way you think the rules should be. Her campaign largely ignored a lot of states Trump took to give him the electoral votes that put him over the top. Didn't she not even go to Wisconsin after March 2016 or some insane date like that? The arrogance of talking about 'BLUE TEXAS?!' and assorted idiocy led her campaign spreadsheet data nerds to fly too close to the sun and it cost her the election.

It was all Kushner. He's a Boy Genius. Is he still getting all the credit or is he willing to let Russia and Cambridge Analytica take the glory?

"It's hard to overstate and hard to summarize Jared's role in the campaign," says billionaire Peter Thiel, the only significant Silicon Valley figure to publicly back Trump. "If Trump was the CEO, Jared was effectively the chief operating officer."

"Jared Kushner is the biggest surprise of the 2016 election (https://www.forbes.com/sites/stevenbertoni/2016/11/22/exclusive-interview-how-jared-kushner-won-trump-the-white-house/#5216e5d83af6)," adds Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, who helped design the Clinton campaign's technology system. "Best I can tell, he actually ran the campaign and did it with essentially no resources."

No resources at the beginning, perhaps. Underfunded throughout, for sure. But by running the Trump campaign--notably, its secret data operation--like a Silicon Valley startup, Kushner eventually tipped the states that swung the election. And he did so in manner that will change the way future elections will be won and lost. .... The Trump campaign, meanwhile, delved into message tailoring, sentiment manipulation and machine learning. The traditional campaign is dead, another victim of the unfiltered democracy of the Web--and Kushner, more than anyone not named Donald Trump, killed it.

She also had an entire nation-state waging a sophisticated information warfare campaign in those states while simultaneously hacking her campaign and selectively releasing parts of emails intended to make her look bad. Some of which "coincidentally" ended up getting released within an hour of her opponent's worst news cycle.

Is it really that much of a stretch to say that said information warfare campaign moved the needle in her opponent's direction by .7% in Wisconsin, .2% in Michigan, and .7% in Pennsylvania?

And he'd have done way better than Trump in the election. He'd have taken a lot of votes from Hillary.

Then again, I don't think there'd have been too many Hillary supporter crying images if Kasich had won as opposed to Trump.

You think they would have somehow managed to pull up their big girl panties and gotten on with their lives?

How little you know about today's liberal snowflakes.

Honestly, not so sure. People voted for Trump for other reasons than "He's Republican". Kaisich is the same type of Republican that gave us Mitt Romney and John McCain and George W Bush.

Voting for Trump was just as much a vote against Hillary as it was against these style Republicans.

We had the "Never Trumps" which wasn't insignificant. We also had the "Never Hillarys". With Kasich there wouldn't have been a "Never Trump" deal going on. I think he would have stolen a lot of votes from Hillary's side.

I firmly believe both parties put up their weakest candidates. I'm pretty sure Bernie Sanders would have won vs Trump (but not anyone else).

We'll never know though.

There's been a lot of anti-establishment anger boiling up over the last decade or so against both Republicans and Democrats. Trump was obviously an outsider, and benefited from that. Centrists or Never Hillarys would probably have voted for Kasich in greater numbers, but people who were genuinely pissed off at the government might just see him as another brick in the wall.

And I think he would have been. He would have been the safe bet.

That's what I'm saying. Clinton was the ultimate establishment candidate though, and I think if it was a normal election she would have steamrolled him.
