Thread: Is Tesla Doomed?

I mean I've been collecting all the 2025 pennies I can for collectors items, so I can become like big oil and big electric like Seran is always complaining about.

This article explains how you should not drive a Tesla when the sun is low in the sky, like in the early mornings and late afternoons.

In a few harrowing seconds, the system’s shortcomings were laid bare by a tragedy. The Tesla hit Story, a 71-year-old grandmother, at highway speed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There is a reason why Superman could shoot lasers from his eyes, but also uses his eyes for seeing. You want redundancy,” Smith said. “It is shocking to many people that Tesla has such confidence in a single type of sensor.”

That single type of sensor Tesla relies on is cameras. The company places an array of them in each vehicle it sells to capture road signs, traffic lights, lane markings and surrounding cars.

Other automakers and autonomous-driving technology companies also use radar and lidar, which emit energy — in lidar’s case, laser pulses traveling at the speed of light — to detect the distance of surrounding objects. As active sensors that generate their own signals, they’re not affected by external lighting conditions and function better than cameras in direct sunlight.
First, Mr. Smith should stop doing metaphors.
    Second, Teslas are bad.

It's pretty amazing how for about 10 years Tesla vehicles were the best things ever invented and they were going to save the world.

Now in just a couple of years apparently the cars are death traps and everyone should avoid one like the plague.

Is the media and "experts" full of shit now? Or were they full of shit before and they ignored all of these problems because they thought they were saving the world?

    Looky. Exactly what I said.

Tesla has never been a stock whose price has closely tracked its fundamentals, often trading on what seem like hopes and vibes, so-called “animal spirits” factors. But even for TeslaTSLA $330.60 (-3.50%), whose stock is up nearly 30% in the last month, its link with reality seems tenuous these days.

“It’s the worst I’ve ever seen because the fundamentals have never been as bad,” CEO of GLJ Research and Tesla bear Gordon Johnson told Sherwood News.

I'll save everyone the trouble of reading the link for themselves to see why Clyder, and probably the author of the article itself, chose such a headline while burying the real information at the very bottom of the article: it all boils down to dumb asses who don't know how to drive.

The article even says that Tesla vehicles have a lot of safety features and even insurance companies rate them among the safest cars to drive. But driver behavior and road conditions are almost always to blame for fatal car crashes, regardless of which vehicle they are driving.
