Why didn't Amazon put inflation percentages when they were at 80 year highs on their products during the Biden administration?

I can think of two reasons..

• Tariff information is useful to consumers. If a buyer on Amazon sees that $145 of the $245 price is attributable to tariffs, then the buyer will know to look further before purchasing, in the hope of finding a similar product not subject to the tariff.
  
  
• Inflation information is less useful to consumers and more difficult for sellers to determine. Inflation is not uniform across different products but tends to be uniform across the same product. For example, eggs may go up in price more than bacon, but all brands of eggs tend to go up by the same price. Even if Amazon could track the inflation rate for every type of product, that information would not be very helpful to consumers when trying to decide which brand of eggs to buy.

The inflation rate is useful to consumers because it helps them understand how the purchasing power of their money is changing over time. This is incredibly useful for budget planning, wage/salary evaluation, borrowing and interest rates, purchase timing and COLA and savings and investments. All these things are useful when speaking with your representative about what is important to you as well.

You can calculate inflation by product category. This is often referred to as category-specific inflation or sub-index inflation, and it's typically based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) data broken down by category (e.g., food, energy, housing, etc.).

So again, why wouldn't Amazon point out the administrations highest inflation rate in 80 years?
