My sincere honest take on the reciprocal tariffs:

If Trump is using these as a short term measure to negotiate better trade deals with countries (especially our close allies), the short term pain is well worth the gain.

If Trump is using these blanket tariffs as a longterm policy for the next 4 years & we find ourselves in a global trade war, that is going to have devastating economic consequences.

I believe Trump is doing the former. It is admittedly a dangerous game. Time will tell. He’ll either come out of this as a hero, or it’s going to really hurt his legacy if it turns out to be like the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of the 1930s. Time will tell.

What do you believe the percentage of investors this would apply to? Like maybe .05%? Maybe .1%?

Sure. Tomorrow add more, then the next day, week, month... it only increases as people get older.

Karate Kid Legends is an upcoming film produced by Sony and coming to theaters this summer. The plot (it’s a shitty cash grab but that’s not relevant here) of the movie takes place in NYC. The movie is being produced for and will be mostly consumed mostly by the American market. To save money on the production budget, all the filming took place in Montreal Canada.

Do you think the American government should just allow our labor and products to be outsourced to foreign countries in the name of corporate profits?

Isn't that the free market at work? Unless you mean free market for US and no one else?

Sure, more jobs here is great. More production here is great. Not paying China for something they pay their own people $2.50 an hour to make is great. How we get there is where I think this administration has taken a gigantic leap of faith. Perhaps they know that when the Democrats come back in power they, along with the sane governments around the world, will fix things like they always do.

I think we should expect our government to protect American industries. China can have their shit tier products, textiles, etc. I’m not suggesting America needs to make our own Nikes. However industries like automotive, steel, energy, computer technology, entertainment, etc. where we can & should dominate is worth protecting. This used to be a Democrat policy as well before they abandoned the unions and working class for the global elites.

What makes you think Democrats have abandon unions? And how could it possibly be worse than republicans who fight against unions?

There are literally dozens of videos of Pelosi, Schumer, Obama and dozens of other democrat leaders arguing for increased tariffs on other countries. Takes two seconds to find them. We do something now or the next generation is the poorest in US history. Over 323k owed in debt to the government if you are a taxpayer today.

At least Trump is attempting something besides the status quo.
