Eggs have a limited shelf life, they can't sit in an Amazon warehouse for days or weeks until someone buys them. Plus they are very fragile. Most exported eggs are to neighboring countries, they don't fly half way across the world because it costs money to ship shit that far.

If the pen factories all got shut down for faulty equipment that took 5-6 months to replace, your pen cost would start to go up due to scarcity. Same thing with chickens. They have had to kill 20 million chickens (up 7 million in less than a week) just since this current outbreak started. This is the worst outbreak we've ever had as far as chickens being infected. Prices are going to be up and they are going to keep going up as they have to kill more and more chickens.
