You're confusing the DOJ criminal investigation into Gaetz (which ended a year ago with the DOJ saying they were not filing any charges against him) and a House ethics probe (which is the one that ended when Gaetz resigned from congress because the House literally can't investigate a non-member for ethics violations) which is basically meaningless because the most the House could do is just say "You're a bad, bad man, Matt!
