The rifle the guy chose for the job was terrible. 7.62x39 is good for 300 yards and in with 100% hit consistency. You can make accurate shots past that distance but it becomes increasingly more difficult. The round loses a lot of velocity after that distance and the wind will push the bullet all over the place.

I think he was laying in wait there for Trump to hit his tee shot onto that fairway on 6. Would have given him a 150 yard or so easy mark. Thank God the SS or whomever put fire on the shooter to disrupt the attempt once the barrel was spotted.
