The city and state receives revenue from Walmart and Off-duty officers generally work security at them too, so?

This ain’t Walmart. It’s a non profit organization that works directly with and benefits our city & state government. It’s similar to DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) that is separate from but works together with the city. State Fair chair position are appointed by elected government officials.

In addition, our police chief has been vocal about not allowing anyone (including responsible LTC holders) carry a firearm on fair grounds since the fuckup that occurred last year. Our mayor can do something about that if he acts.

Last, I do realize writing a letter (actually submitted it online) to elected officials is old school and likely won’t do jack shit. It’s more for me than anyone else, and an appropriate healthy way to express my grievance.

Printing a letter on paper and mailing it is still highly effective, probably more effective today than years ago when everybody wrote letters. Be aware that it could become a public document under your state laws.

Again, the Government can't tell them to allow firearms at their event. They aren't the Government, no matter how much you want to say they benefit, or benefit from, the Government.

Actually, this isn't completely untrue. They are more likely to read a letter than an email, because someone that takes the time to actually write and mail a letter is probably a little more serious.

I won’t be going. Because some gangbanger thug teen snuck in a gun and shot at someone he knew, somebody made the decision to change this policy to prohibit legal & responsible LTC holders from conceal carrying. The policy change is punishing good people who follow the law for the actions of bad people that don’t. I’ll do my part, within my own influence & sphere of people I know, to boycott this BS until they are forced to reconsider. This…is…Texas! <kick>

Edit: I typically don’t go to ATT stadium. Assessing the risk level of that stadium vs the fair grounds, I see it a little different as well. I’m not sure if you are familiar with the area, but Fair Park is in a sketchy part of Dallas. It’s also a huge amount of space in there…bigger than Six Flags. It’s easy to sneak into Fair Park. I personally know this because I snuck into the Warp Tour concert there circa 2001. Last, ATT stadium has an economic barrier to entry to be in there. At the State Fair you got people from all walks of life, to include ghetto ass punk teenagers, like the one who they arrested last year for shooting at someone.

Honestly, the State Fair of Louisiana has low attendance because it is fucking dangerous, people break into cars a lot, and it is just overpriced and shoddy. Someone literally stole a fucking helicopter from the Louisiana State Fair. Texas has multiple better theme parks that are permanent anyways. I don't know why I'd ever go to the Texas State Fair if I can go to a Six Flags or the equivalent.

I doubt attendance really drops due to that. Honestly, the State Fair of Louisiana has low attendance because it is fucking dangerous, people break into cars a lot, and it is just overpriced and shoddy. Someone literally stole a fucking helicopter from the Louisiana State Fair. Texas has multiple better theme parks that are permanent anyways. I don't know why I'd ever go to the Texas State Fair if I can go to a Six Flags or the equivalent.

Maybe it won’t. We’ll see. It dropped last year after that shooting. I get they need to make it safe, but that particular change doesn’t help them achieve that.

They hand out free tickets to our State Fair to every public elementary school kid in Dallas. Reason to go to that over say Six Flags is you have generations of Texans that go for family memories and such. It also helps support Texas instead of a corporation like Six Flags. Just a different vibe.

I edited my last post to give my risk assessment, but yeah it’s in a shitty neighborhood and it’s way more dangerous vs AT&T stadium. I’m not taking my family into Fair Park with nothing but my dick in my pants. We got lots of options for things to do.

Trump is lying. Multiple news channels broadcast the event via live stream, where the crowd is clearly visible. Photographers from the Associated Press and many other national and international outlets captured the attendees. Local news reported that “about 15,000 people filled the hangar” and the crowd was “spilling out onto the tarmac and cheering as Air Force Two arrived.”
