Schools in general need to be overhauled to work on more group based learning/projects and less memorization. Also kids aren’t meant to be sitting for 8 hours a day, they need to increase activity/play and have shorter more focused learning sessions. I won’t pretend to have all the answers here but I think we can at least all agree that the education system needs an overhaul.

I can't imagine how shitty elementary school must be these days with no recess. I don't know what percentage of schools got rid of it, but anything higher than 0 is too many.

I do know if Desantis is the republican candidate I'll just stay home. Look into the Florida blogger bill introduced by FL. Republicans. He's just as bad as the far left.

I’m not sure if it’s the same bill, but I was recently reading about him proposing a bill to dismantle pro-Palestinian student groups in universities.

As much as I am adamantly opposed to the sympathetic nature of some toward the Palestinians (with some going further to be straight up supportive of Hamas), I am a fundamental constitutionalist. Desantis seems to have no problem in this instance subverting people’s 1A rights. Employers and such blacklisting those students is fair game, but government doing that kind of stuff is not. He seems to have trouble understanding the distinction in fighting the culture wars. I’m disappointed and tend to agree with you. He has a great track record of good governance, but I’ve seen enough to come to the conclusion that I wouldn’t vote for him for President.

I know a few people with multiple advanced degrees who are some of the dumbest people I know because all they learned was how to study and take tests, not how to work in the real world. Its a failure of the education system in general and the more time goes by the more evident it is that college is wasteful outside of STEM.

At my kindergarten there was a girl that came in, on her first day, she shit in the corner of the room. The teachers told the parents about it, and the parents only response was “it’s not my job to teach my daughter, it’s yours”. That’s is the problem.

No, these are not mutually exclusive things and kids need to better learn to focus on a single task as well as work with others.
