Yes I concur with your statement, my words were more about the law being extremely vague, they are unsure what will get them in serious trouble and what won’t. That’s what I meant. They are doctors, not law makers and vice versa, what may be ok to them, isn’t ok for other doctors.

Imagine you are in the doctor’s position, and you do the abortion, yet the state and other doctors(which the state can use at expert testimony), feel like you broke the extremely vague law and you lose your medical license, are you willing to risk that? Your entire life gone.

The state is just as much to blame as the doctor’s in my humble opinion, if you are going to write a law, that has these types of punishments, there’s no room for being “vague” it was obviously rushed to be pushed through as law without taking the time to be clear and concise.

I think we have talked on this, but most of Americans seem to fall in middle ground. I’m staunchly morally opposed to abortion when it’s used like birth control, but politically for me it’s an area I’m willing to compromise as it’s not on the top of my list of issues. Pick a number…16 weeks seems reasonable to me. This is admittedly an area where Republicans are getting their asses handed to them in elections. I’m much more concerned about economic, foreign policy, and other civil rights issues then I am about abortion.

I would be willing to take that risk. The doctor is the expert. I try my best to act with integrity in my personal and professional life, even when doing so can put me in harm’s way. Given the facts, I’d absolutely make that judgement call. I doubt the state would even question it since they haven’t ever done so before, but even if I knew it would be scrutinized I would have to act in good conscience. Wouldn’t you? Is it not reasonable to hold doctors to that standard?

Of course we should hold every doctor to that standard, and I 100% agree, but it’s obvious, especially from this article alone, doctors aren’t like that, and they worry about their families and livelihoods.

That is not my point at all and I don’t see any reason to argue with you on it. Good day sir.

It does when it's almost election season.

But that was the issue. There were several states that were purposely ambiguous and vague about the latest that a woman could get an abortion.. and the mantra of "IT'S HER BODY! HER CHOICE!" and "IF YOU DON'T HAVE A UTERUS, YOU SHOULD SHUT UP!".

I feel like if I was a doctor to a woman, I would get a second opinion. That being out of the way if we both agreed I'd do it regardless of potential consequences, because my concern would be for my patient. That is why I'm not a doctor.

this thought is about doctors risking themselves by taking on patients, and afraid of doing the right thing.
