Saying there are only two genders is completely reasonable, because it’s based on scientific fact, are scientific facts now considered offensive? Because a select group of people find it offensive? But when someone shirt says the earth is round, a different select group of people who find it offensive, their opinions and feelings don’t matter? Isn’t that being a little hypocritical?
Did it say there are only two genders, you are subhuman if you think otherwise?
I’m pretty sure if you wore a shirt that says the earth is round, that would be offensive to flat earther people. Do they not matter? You keep going but but but.
It doesn’t not matter if they are protected or not, the shirt is offensive to a select group of people, do their feelings not matter?

The law matters in what school officials are required to do to protect students and avoid liability. If a message or slogan is not covered under a specific law and instead is offensive to another student who complains, then school officials are free to exercise their discretion as always. You are confusing your own beliefs with what is required by law in Massachusetts. Whether there is only two genders or not, discrimination and harassment on the basis of sex or LGBT standing is illegal.
"There are two genders" isn't a right wing slogan.. it's literally a statement of fact. Now, I may not agree with a kid wearing that shirt to school.. but I also don't agree with kids wearing BLM shirts, Gay Pride shirts or Use My Correct Pronouns shirt either. I'm old fashion like that.
I sort of agree with Seran in this... need to look at why the kid was wearing a "There are only 2 genders" tee-shirt. He obviously knows there are trans kid(s) at his school.. so the only reason to wear that shirt is to (and I don't want to use this term.. but I can't think of another) bully this kid(s). Imagine if that were your kid.. life is rough enough as it is... you don't need this going on in school.
Exactly this. Public schools are not a political campaign rally and schools enforcing this is nothing new.
Hell, I got sent home for wearing a "Life's a Beach" T-shirt back in high school. I may have thought it was stupid but I never felt that my free speech was being hindered.

I do get where you are coming from and as a parent I do agree, but a public school claiming that particular shirt is hate speech, obscene, or even a political statement is absurd. The danger with this ambiguity is where does it end? Next they will say a kid wearing Yeezy Boost sneakers is hate speech because Kanye made some antisemitic remarks. After that it will be the American flag as that is clearly a symbol for the Republican Party.
Edit: Also I can’t fathom anything on somebody’s shirt being a form of bullying. These snowflakes need to go watch the Karate Kid.

this is partially why I don't read what shirts say.. Unless the woman wearing it has nice boobs, then I'll figure out what it has to say. For the most part though there are enough memes and statements everywhere else.. I don't care what catchy phrase is written on your shirt.
There's no place for any type of slogan in schools, unless it is age appropriate. Whether it's a statement about genders, gay rights, or pick you group matters. I've never quite understood the absolute acid that is the Left's argument against school uniforms, something something individuality, etc., but honestly do we need kids focused on anything but learning the subjects taught in school and social skills not tied to fighting?
