    A countries airspace extends to 100,000 feet, it is well below that. For those of you that think we should not shoot it down, what if there is a nuclear bomb on board. Detonate it and North America goes back to the stone ages, and I am sure some of Central America as well.

    The fact is there are a whole lot of good reasons to bring it down and none to keep it up. And anyone that thinks it will antagonize China, does not understand China and their history. They already think they are superiors to westerners so the only thing that can dent that mindset is defeating them.

    There's no way China would put a warhead or canisters on their balloon.. it would be WW3 if they did.

    It's a spy balloon or a weather balloon.. shoot it down and get whatever you need from it. Should have been done from day 1.

    Honestly waiting til it was over water was the right move, on the remote chance there was a bio agent of any sort on it, which is vastly more likely, water would hopefully neutralize it, doubt anyone could predict the debris field from taking it down over land. My guess is it was launched to get accurate reads of atmospheric currents, because while they exist most of them are just educated guesses.
