I remember having to learn the metric system throughout school... the teachers saying the US will be moving to it any day now....

Actually there is a very good video somewhere on youtube that talks about why America did not go metric. It has everything to do with the tooling in factories before and during WWII. Something about easily divisible by 2, which it is. I personally think we could get around that, since most every other country has, but oddly there are still in a lot of places that still use imperial for machining in countries that are all metric.

Wow, oil opened with a mighty whimper this morning, crashing $5.00 after the bell and sitting just over the $78 mark. Between the inventory report showing unexpected inventory growth, additional large Fed rate action meant to curb inflation and Europe renewing their nuclear energy commitments, all combined with ongoing demand destruction here in the US. Hope this downward trend continues.
