To maintain a constant rate of speed the car is consuming more power than the electromagnets would produce. So introducing more drag would cause a further consumption of power.

Now when you're braking, a lot of hybrids make use of regenerative braking to use the heat caused by brake friction to generate usable electricity. That's existing technology which is getting better.

Your alternator is doing something akin to what Shaps inquired about to maintain a charge on your battery, transferring mechanical power via drive belts. So in a way it's been working in a limited sense for a while.

Well I read on xkcd that if you stand up and spin around in place counterclockwise, then you are slowing down the earth's rotation. Imagine the environmental problems that professional ice skaters are causing. Turbines, being larger than a person, must have a similar but larger effect.

Which cars are these? The Leaf, typically on the lower end of EVs, starts at almost 30k for the base model.

Also I read that on average EV have increased in price much more than their ICE counterparts, it was something like 40% increase on EVs compared to about 10% for ICE vehicles. That's part of the supply chain fiasco Biden and the Democrats brought on us.

It's certainly cheaper than gas (mostly because Democrats are seeing fit to increase gas prices as much as possible), but when you factor in electricity costs, especially if you're using a charging station which has a huge mark up, then you're only saving maybe a few hundred dollars a year in fuel savings. Considering electric vehicles are typically 5k-10k+ more expensive than ICE cars, you're investing a lot of money upfront to POSSIBLY break even many years down the line, that's assuming the battery doesn't die while out of warranty, or even factoring in that electric vehicles typically have higher repair costs than ICE vehicles.

Like I said earlier, if you mostly drive 20-30 miles a day, then a PHEV or an EV with a 30 mile range might save you some money in the long run, especially if you have a garage where you can easily use a standard outlet to charge these cars overnight. Other than that though, it's really not worth investing in an expensive electric vehicle with a 200+ mile range at the moment.
That's what I've been looking at, where you might break even and start saving money from buying an EV vs an ICE vehicle.

Take an AWD gas car that costs $30k new off the lot.
You could spend upwards of $2500 a year on gas and oil changes for the 14K miles an average person drives a year (could be more or could be less depending on where you live and how much you drive).
That's $32,500 for the first year owning the car.

Take a similar AWD electric car that costs $45k and gets similar mileage on a full battery charge.
You could spend upwards of $750 a year on electricity to charge it for the 14K miles an average person drives a year (could be more or could be less depending on where you live and how much you drive).

Gas yearly cost vs electric yearly cost difference = $1750

Price difference of gas car vs electric car when purchased = $15,000

You're looking at about 9 years of vehicle ownership before you could start to save money from buying an EV over a gas vehicle.
On top of that, the average person currently keeps a car for 8-9 years. You might be looking to sell/trade in your vehicle by this time....so you're not really saving any money going EV over gas.
Also, EV batteries are only estimated to last 10-20 years, so by the time you get to that 9 year mark your car battery could be on the way out and you could spend upwards of $20k to replace it (it certainly could be significantly less, but even if it costs you $5k, that's still a lot of money) and you're back to paying more for an EV over a gas vehicle.

This is clearly a generalized summary, but should give somewhat of an outline what you could expect.

Wind turbines are killing the earth, birds and causing habitat loss.

    https://besjournals.onlinelibrary.wi...ry%20corridors.

    1. Wind energy production has expanded to meet climate change mitigation goals, but negative impacts of wind turbines have been reported on wildlife. Soaring birds are among the most affected groups with alarming fatality rates by collision with wind turbines and an escalating occupation of their migratory corridors. These birds have been described as changing their flight trajectories to avoid wind turbines, but this behaviour may lead to functional habitat loss, as suitable soaring areas in the proximity of wind turbines will likely be underused.

Chevy Equinox is going to start at 30k, Kia Niro at 25k, Mazda MX-30 at 33k... Note that all three of these are SUVs. There are a couple others coming in cheap too, such as the Nissan Leaf that is 27k right now.

67% of fall fatalities are among people aged 75 years or older.

To be fair, this is a group of people who'd die from a particularly strong gust of wind or finding out Matlock was canceled decades ago.
