They couldn't, but they could at least "comment" on it. The idea that a university suddenly has no comments on how their students are treated at student housing is absolute bullshit. Like I said, they would have plenty of comments if a landlord created a whites only student housing.

I mean, you're creating a strawman argument here. You don't know what they'd do or say and neither do I, and it really isn't relevant. The core of the matter, is that regardless of comment or not, they do not have any control over this housing, which is what the headline of the article leads people to believe.

I agree on the part of the university having no control on the matter, but I think to Tgo01’s point…. Do you think that Berkeley would have the same response if this unaffiliated off-site student housing was discriminating against a minority race? I suspect they would have more to say given the history of this particular university.

Racism and intolerance in this blatantly illegal tangible example should be universally condemned no matter who is the target. I think the overwhelming majority of Americans would agree on this independent of their political affiliation.

So student housing near campus that openly advertises they won't allow black students to live there, and black visitors are banned from the common areas, and you think the university wouldn't have a comment on this?

Come on.

Keep in mind, I am saying the university SHOULD have a comment on such a scenario because it is absolutely disgusting. Just like they should have a comment on the current real life scenario because it is equally as disgusting.
