Thread: Russia Just Invaded Ukraine

That we are spending more money on defending Ukraine's border than we spend on defending our own says something, to me anyway.

We're not facing cruise missile or cluster bomb attacks from Mexico, nor are we facing millions fleeing aerial bombardment from armed military invading from a third-party state belligerent.

Those flocking to the border are seeking a better life and economic opportunities. They're fleeing inept or corrupt leadership in their own countries that have given rise to gang violence.

    See the difference?

In both cases, they aren't really our problem. See the similarity?

He doesn't see the similarity, because MSNBC hasn't told him to.

Let’s put our cards on the table. Democrats welcome the influx of illegal immigrants into our country so that with future legislation they can make them into voting citizens. This is part of a broader strategy to make it so the party always win elections as defined in the 2020 Democratic Party Platform.

Well SHM was commenting on the irony of the financial commitments on two disparate situations, not whether or not they weren't our problem or not. Kthx

That's a very practical tinfoil hat conspiracy predicted on amnesty legislation being passed (it hasn't, since Reagan, a Republican), on assuming immigrants will vote Democrat, which isn't as cut and dry as you assume.

But I'm interested in seeing the 2020 Democratic Party Platform that calls for making sure illegal immigrants are given voting rights to secure Democrat wins. Got a link?

Immigration policy starts on page 61:
Democrats support policies and programs to make it easier for immigrants and their families to become full and equal citizens, including increasing funding for culturally appropriate immigrant inclusion and citizenship services, legal support, English classes and bilingual education, workforce development, and adult education.

It makes logical sense that an immigrant allowed to enter the country illegally and then granted benefits & citizenship by a political party is going to be more likely to vote for said party…

It also goes on to discuss making Washington DC the 51st state and vigorously supporting efforts to include Puerto Rico as a new state. It doesn’t take a tin-hat wearing conspiracy theorist to conclude the reason why…

Spare me the bleeding heart liberal narrative that you actually care about those people beyond their vote.

Also you should keep that document handy as if it were your very own unholy political Bible.

Ah, so it actually doesn't list an agenda to get immigrants amnesty and register them as Democrats, despite the tin foil hat conspiracy you laid out. Thanks for verifying.

Using your logic, Republicans want to lower corporate taxes so that there are more profits for individuals to donate to Republican PACs to increase media buys to increase Republican turnout. Money = Speech = Power after all.

Anyone with even the most minimal capability of processing logic could figure it out. Which explains why you can't.

I wouldn't rule this out either. Although for this year's midterms, all they really need to run on is "Look what these dumb fucks on the left are doing." and that'll probably be good enough. But yes, I'm sure most republicans only give a shit about things like lowering taxes because it benefits them politically, and not because they want to save Bob the unknown middle class carpenter 2% on his tax liability.

What can safely be ruled out though, is that any politician in any party actually gives a shit about the people they pretend to care about past getting their votes.

The main problem here is that you're a combination of extremely dumb, gullible, and full of shit, all without a shred of self awareness.
