What’s happening, we shouldn’t just sit back and help from a distance. NATO needs to defend democracies all around the world, if that could lead to a greater conflict(which I don’t think will happen) I think it’s worth the risk or this aggression will never stop. A fancy membership card shouldn’t be the only thing that saves you.

Before the invasion happened, we should have put 3,000 or so troops in Ukraine for “training” purposes, and just left them there.

It’s been reported that this invasion is costing Putin 15bln a day. All of a sudden that 630bln chest he has saved, doesn’t look so big.

A no fly zone would be WW3. A no fly zone includes taking out Anti-Air elements, which would mean we'd be bombing the Russian Army.

And Europe was VERY divided over responding to the annexation of Crimea. Unilateral action wasn't going to cut it.

A lot of people are giving Biden tons of grief for not "Being tougher on Russia", and it's 100% true that he could have been. But what most people don't realize is that the US has actually been focusing its diplomatic attention on rallying the nation states of the EU to put up a united front despite their reservations. Because that's actually the only way to create real consequences for Putin and to pressure him to back off.

Oil prices are already up from massive speculation about supply disruptions, which haven't happened. Has Biden's Department of Energy discussed with OPEC about a temporary increase to offset sanctions, don't know. Have they met with American oil companies about un-idling wells, don't know. But the oil producers domestically and internationally have the spare production, but simply aren't releasing oil and are profit taking.

When asked about production targets for 2022 during a January earnings call, ExxonMobil CEO Darren Woods responded, "The primary objectives we've had in looking at the portfolio is less about volume and volume targets and more about the quality and profitability of the barrels that we're producing."

Oil companies at least are being honest about keeping oil prices high to reap higher prices. Even if Republicans still want to pretend oil companies are being prevented from producing.
