What does putin do if he can’t take Ukraine? How does he not launch a nuke?

He’s threatened the use of using a nuke so far. I’m not doubting him at this point. I didn’t think he’d invade, even though he had positioned himself to do so. I’m very fearful he’ll launch a nuke.

He has butted heads with them a few times, they kind of have a "Treaty". They are probably the only ones that can really rein him in. Fucking with their money is likely a way to do it, but even forbes is saying the current sanctions will only have a modest hit to the Russian economy. Inflation is going to happen a lot, but rich people can weather that easily enough.

I don't know, maybe Chechnya will heat up again.

Some theories I read basically stated the oligarchs wanted this war simply to enrich themselves to get around the current sanctions they already had. Basically sell Russian gasoline in Ukraine at a markup.

Granted that strategy would work if their army wasn't straight out of the 1980s. It's strangely funny to see all the videos popping up on YouTube of civilians effectively stealing Russian equipment.

In a few days the Russian military will probably be given the green light to go ahead and target civilians. Right now they are probably trying to avoid civilian casualties because that's largely frowned upon in modern warfare, but I'm thinking Putin is getting pretty desperate here.

Russia could probably topple Ukraine in a couple of days if they didn't care about civilian casualties.

The Russian army hasn't had to worry about logistics in decades. A lot of them had no idea what they were doing due to no experience, basically growing pains issues. They may have planned to attack faster and seize Ukrainian supplies too, and that didn't pan out. Either way, they abandoned a lot of stuff. That is a primary difference between the US military and them, we can create a fucking incredible logistics train out of nowhere.

Another problem hitting them, they don't control the airspace. I mean, they should have infested the skies of Ukraine with MiGs, they should have had intense bombing campaigns... They didn't, so Ukraine still has full functional command and control and air capabilities... Which means it is harder for the Russians to fly in stuff.

So yeah, they are basically operating like a 1980s Army.

I don't think Putin has much choice. He either has to go hard against Ukraine or pullout, and it's looking unlikely he's going to pullout.

I think he didn't expect the resistance he got. Crimea, the Ukrainian Armed Forces basically just left it to him with almost no fighting. I think that is kinda what he expected here.

Yeah I don't think he's going to nuke Ukraine. Not unless he is legit suffering from some severe mental illness, otherwise he's not that stupid.

But he has to be getting desperate. He launched this war and not only has almost the entire world rebuked his actions (days too late I might add but at least they got there) but now he's just embarrassing his country and military and looking weak.
