Because I'm sure our ally Germany and the rest of western Europe was thrilled with us trying to assert authority over their energy needs. Nordstream 2 is a European issue, not an American one.

Ukraine is not our ally, we do not have a defense treaty and they're not a member of NATO, so I don't see what our military spending has to do with Ukraine.
