What party was James Madison when the war of 1812 broke out? It was world war'ish.

I don't know what actually has to constitute a World War in that there has to be, eh, X amount of superpowers actively fighting each other and/or The New World vs. The Old World must be happening. I still think we've only been in two World Wars, but I had this race-denying American History professor in my super liberal college I attended who was like WORLD WAR ONE BILLION, BITCH. Alright.

James Madison was party of the Democratic-Republican Party, which split later to create the Democrat Party and the National Republican Party (Not related to the GOP today). 1812 wasn't really any kind of World War, there was only two nations in it (well, and a bunch of native tribes). The Seven Years War definitely would fall under that, but the US didn't exist yet. Our part was called the French and Indian War.
