Official forums shutting down.

Removing the forums and going 100% discord is easy. Here is what you do:

Step 1: Already know what the topic of announcement is. If you don’t know then you’re not paying attention anyways.
Step 2: Search discord for the announcement
Step 3: Narrow your search to the early morning hours
Step 4: Congrats! You’re now informed!

I hate those forums so much, I don't even bother with them anymore. Good riddance.

Granted, my issues have little to do with how old and awful they are, but are due to some very specific people that frequent them and basically ruin any discussion by miring it in pointless arguments. It's some of the most toxic forums I have ever posted on, not so much in the traditional sense of toxicity, but because you simply can't discuss change there without having to swim through the muck and quicksand of people arguing to keep the status quo for no good reason aside from them simply enjoying arguing.

You could post about a good idea for monks, just to have some guy who doesn't even play a monk and doesn't even give two craps about monks, argue with you about why he thinks it's a bad idea.

You’re spot on. It’s been the same people basically running the officials and shutting down any legitimate discussion for decades. The craziest thing is they will argue over the most mundane thing in order to derail a conversation. You can have a perfectly valid point but maybe you said the sky is red during your post and they will harp on this one off hand comment for pages.

Problem is many of these people continue to do the same shit on Discord and I have a feeling the holdouts who never migrated to Discord from the officials will now finally make the move and make Discord even worse.

Just a thought: The incessant political posts on the PC annoy a lot of us, but in a way, maybe it's that type of stuff that keeps the undesirable official forum people from coming over here and mucking up the GSIV discussions. Most of the GSIV talk here is at least productive and no one is trying to shut you down for proposing new ideas. So I guess...thank you TGo, PB, ClydeR, Seran, Methais, drauz, SHM, et al. (that's who I remember off the top of my head, don't come at me.)

Yeah, that is EXACTLY what they do. Most good ideas start out rough and need to be polished. Instead of helping improve on ideas, they simply tear them down as best they can.

Surprisingly, at least the GMs do hear the ideas anyways, at the very least, and they don't get completely lost in all the drivel. Though most of them do probably get lost in it....

Yup. They are the exact definition of crybullies. They either have the GMs/mods in their pocket or they know exactly how far they can push things without running afoul of the rules and then just stand by while the mods ban/warn others for the exact same shit they themselves do.
