If a VP is to assume the Presidency, and there is under 2 years left on that term of office... the individual can then run for the next 2 full terms. Problem with your theory is: Kamala Harris is the Vice President.

She's disliked on both sides of the isle. She was one of the first candidates to be forced out during the primaries.

She hasn't done herself any favors while VP either.
