At least 1,500 American citizens remain in Afghanistan with just days left before the scheduled U.S. withdrawal from the country, but officials on Wednesday acknowledged the reality that tens of thousands of Afghan allies and others at high risk of Taliban reprisals would be left behind.

Oh gee. AT LEAST 1500 American citizens are still in Afghanistan and the Biden administration will leave tens of thousands of Afghans who helped us behind. So I was wrong, he isn't even doing the bare minimum.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Wednesday that there could be as many as 1,500 Americans in Afghanistan still seeking to leave as U.S. officials continue to move personnel out of the country ahead of an Aug. 31 deadline. About 6,000 Americans have been evacuated from the country since Aug. 14, he said.

U.S. diplomats have been in touch with about 500 Americans still seeking to leave Afghanistan, and were “aggressively reaching out” to 1,000 more, “multiple times a day through multiple channels,” Blinken said.

So, no, they don't know, they are just guessing it's at least 1500. Also 6000 Americans have been evacuated since August 14th, not 15k.
