Something tells me 99% of all of that is bullshit.

I'm sure some people took advantage of the US' military presence to target their foes, but this supposedly went on for years and the US military either never figured out what was going on or was all too happy to just be killing people that they didn't care they were being used to murder innocent people?

Surely there would have been thousands of whistle blowers by now and we wouldn't be learning this from a Twitter thread who is quoting someone selling a book. And of course the story makes the Taliban seem like good people: they voluntarily left power then decided they had to fight the good fight against the murderous US and Afghan government, all of those suicide bombings they have been conducting for the past decade or so is to prove to everyone that the US and Afghan government were the real monsters.

FWIW we had a literal pallet of cash that we would hand out to people who provided us "intel". We knew what we were told was either entirely fake or rival blood feud bullshit, and reported it as such, but we were told to continue handing it out. Someone up above apparently thought it was real.

I would actually consider voting democrat again if they are the party that continues to close down bases across the globe. From what I understand we were spending 300 million a day in Afghanistan alone.

I'm not sure anyone can fathom what we could have done for our own country over the past 20 years and a trillion plus dollars.
