Wait a minute, so according to these racists non-white kids don't read or math as well as white kids so rather than, I don't know, dedicating more resources to provide these kids with a better education so they can indeed read and math as well as white kids the solution is to just drop the reading and math requirements and push these kids out of the public school system?

Because there is an obvious difference between intelligence/potential and educational attainment. Grades don't reflect intelligence. They reflect a giant combination of factors, most of which can be boiled down to things like zip code, demographics, and family/home conditions.

The fact that we're recognizing that being a child of color in this country comes with unique- and often substantial- structural disadvantages and are trying to compensate for them isn't racist.

Pretending like those things aren't true and then trying to stop people from helping children of color- that's racist.

Or, in other words, mentioning race and how it affects people isn't racist. Intentionally ignoring those things as rule is, in fact, racist.

How is saying black and brown children don't do as well in school as white kids so we're just gonna pass them along to get them out of the public school system in any way "compensating" for anything?

Give them a proper education, don't tell them that since they are a victim we are just gonna push them through the school system without a proper education and claim you are somehow making their lives better.
