I also wholeheartedly agree on education reform. I don't think we could spend enough on education and you're right about it being a lot of the change we need. I think it's less about spending the time and money, but I believe a lot of the powerful people in our world don't want an educated general population, and while it may sound a little conspiracy theorist, it's harder to control and manipulate educated people. Not impossible, but harder. There's sound logic behind it, and I'm not claiming it's fact, just my feelings on the matter. I don't see any real excuse for the way we're doing it, and the lack of funding in some areas. I would love to see more focus on education, and more parents that care about their kid's future.
I've had the same thought about the powerful people in the world not wanting a more educated populous. In the long run it doesn't make any sense but then again for them it may just be the status quo. United we'd all be stronger and if they were the ones behind it they'd be made all the stronger for it as well.
I think time and money is a big part of the problem though. People want to see results for their time/money and with education that takes a while, several years in fact. Most people don't have the patients for it and without tangible results they give up and invest their time/money somewhere else.
