Not impossible, but harder. There's sound logic behind it, and I'm not claiming it's fact, just my feelings on the matter. I don't see any real excuse for the way we're doing it, and the lack of funding in some areas. I would love to see more focus on education, and more parents that care about their kid's future.
I've had the same thought about the powerful people in the world not wanting a more educated populous. In the long run it doesn't make any sense but then again for them it may just be the status quo. United we'd all be stronger and if they were the ones behind it they'd be made all the stronger for it as well.

I think time and money is a big part of the problem though. People want to see results for their time/money and with education that takes a while, several years in fact. Most people don't have the patients for it and without tangible results they give up and invest their time/money somewhere else.

And now we know why the media and left groups have pivoted from coronavirus destroying the economy to pushing the social injustice narrative. Yesterday and this morning, CNN, NYT, and WSJ all posting articles of doom and gloom unemployment hitting 20% with today's May jobs report. Actual report, 2.5 million job GAINS, unemployment 13.3%.

Here comes the media spin! Trump forced the labor bureau to put out fake numbers!

I can't wait until time4fun or Seran start running away with this talking point.

Not a bad day for the old 401K.

UAL since I bought it on May 14th... +122.66%. It was over +150% this morning when the market was up like 900. I seriously wish I had put more in it (and I was psychic enough to do so). I was just a pussy. I didn't believe it'd come back so strongly or quickly.

This is why I don't do the stock market. Nothing about any of this makes sense to me. I thought for sure the stock market would start tanking with the out of control riots on top of a large portion of the economy still being shut down.

I understand that a big part of stocks is optimism, but there is a lot to be pessimistic about at the moment.

This is the 50 year DJIA graph - 1967 to 2017 Details don't really matter, just look at the lines. I believe in data, and data suggests betting on indexes will win in the long run. I knew this 20 years ago, and I know it today. So long as I'm not trying to cash out today, my money will only go up over time.
