Thread: Things that made you laugh today (Political Version)

Democrats hold secret "impeachment hearings" where only a select number of representatives are allowed to participate in.
Democrat voters and media: "This seems normal."

Republicans demand a vote take place and that these proceedings take place in the open so everyone can see what is going on so they "storm" the meeting in progress to make these demands.
Democrats, Democrat voters, and the media: "THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! They are obstructing justice! This is treason!"

Can any sane Democrat (this rules you out, Annahlee) actually defend this absolute two faced bullshit?

Beto says Trump using the "L" word is proof he isn't fit to serve this country. He also forgives Joe Biden for using the word during Clinton's impeachment. Weird how he didn't say Biden, his rival in the primary, is also unfit to serve for using the L word.

Sourcing info from a biased fake news website, how utterly shocking
Are you saying that they didn't say what they said on the video clips?

That's why I gave you a video.. because words are so hard for you to understand.

"Beto" is an absolute joke and how anyone would vote for that virtue signalling chump for anything is beyond me.

You realize that Republicans sit on those committees too right? There's like 45 Republicans that have access to the testimony and documents.

Why don't all Republicans and the American public have access to the testimony and documents?

Democrats: Trump! Release the classified transcript or else you're just proving you're guilty and should be impeached!
Trump releases transcript within 48 hours.
Democrats: NOT GOOD ENOUGH! We are now going to conduct secret meetings to impeach you and not even hold a formal vote to start said impeachment proceedings.

I get you hate Trump but come the fuck on man.

A few facts, not taking up a side pro or con here.

    1) The grand jury phase deposing key witnesses is often conducted privately or "behind closed doors". The open trial portion (the Senate will hold this, if it is sent Articles of Impeachment) will be a different matter.
    2) Republicans are in their right to be incensed about the nature of witnesses being called into deposition. The House minority has no rights to call witnesses unless granted by the House majority. That right has not been granted, giving a fairly slanted prospect to any potential Articles of Impeachment.
    3) Republican Senators being handed Articles of Impeachment that are solid and damning will lose significantly if an attempt to call conflicting witness testimony forward occurs. This is less a function of Rule of Law, and more a function of America's patience (fast food for the masses).
    4) No one has mentioned yet the budget process and the potential weaponization of that process. We're under continuance until Nov 21. Agreement of a budget is likely not in the cards, feel free to speculate as to why. Signing the budget is likely not in the cards. Speculation isn't necessary.
    5) No one has mentioned that one of the key budget hang-ups will be the continued demand to fund building the wall to deliver on a portion of a signature political promise - now priced in the 2020 budget at $8.6M.

Christmas will be a jolly season for some. No fact available to me on how jolly it will be for Americans.

I don't recall any other presidential impeachment in US history being done unilaterally by the majority power without a vote first to authorize it and all of the hearings being held in secret. I would love to know if I'm wrong about this though.

Another fact in response. Not sure it will totally pass muster but I do offer as fact:

In 1973, the Senate Watergate hearings (with testimony from John Dean, and the revelation of the White House tapes by Alexander Butterfield) were held in May and June 1973, and the House Judiciary Committee authorized Chairman Rodino to commence an investigation, with subpoena power, on October 30, 1973. The full House voted to initiate impeachment proceedings on February 6, 1974, that is, after nine months of formal investigations by various Congressional committees.

Emphasis is my own, source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeac...to_investigate

I don't understand either, I mean Bernie has only been in office for 29 years. You would have thought in that amount of time the Democrats could have figured out something, at least legislation that would have allowed other manufacturers to produce the medicine. Or allowed for out of country medication purchases.

I also question the "some insulin prices", what does some mean? Is this like some kind of special insulin made from some near extinct species that's required billions of dollars in research funding?
