The house passed a resolution condemning Trump’s Syria pullout. The same party that was marching in the streets over “Bush’s” wars. Doesn’t congress declare war? Can’t they just vote for war so Trump has to send the troops back? Or are meaningless virtue signaling resolutions the only thing Democrats know how to do anymore?

Why? How do you know Turkey didn't call him and say "We are moving on Syria, get your peeps out or they might die."?

I don't get the angst when we don't know the story. It's chicken little syndrome.

You may be comfortable with Turkey dictating how we mobilize our military, I'm not. You know Turkey thinks the Kurds are terrorists, you know they are going to press the delete button on them. They have been immensely helpful in Syria and now we are throwing them to the wolves.

You really think Turkey would have potentially started a war and risked NATO status if we said "Back the fuck up"?

I don't understand how you're getting to chicken little. The one group of people who stood beside us throughout the mess in Iraq and Syria has been the Kurds. We just threw them under the bus. It was a shitty thing to do to our most loyal and most helpful allies. It sounds like you're suggesting Erdogan threatened Trump, stating they were going to attack our allies, and Trump's response is to get out of the way so that the bombings could commence? Some allies we are.

And speaking to TG01s comment about "Bush's wars," how in the world does being against war with Iraq equate with wanting to treat our allies poorly once we're in it?

Turkey is our ally too, an actual sovereign nation, why do people always forget about this part when discussing this?

As far as the Iraq analogy, why are you for keeping troops in a war zone seemingly forever if you were against the Iraq war? Something tells me if Obama did this you would be saying he deserves another phony peace prize.

Russia was our ally in WWII. Japan, Germany and Italy were our enemies. Fucking times change.

I'm don't profess to be an expert, and I'm damn sure all of you aren't either. And the "news" regardless of your political stance, is chicken little.

Yeah, things change over 50 years....They also have democracies now as well. Can you point to what changed with our relationship with the Kurds, other than Trump essentially saying fuck you all? Pretty sure nothing has changed and our relationship with Turkey has only gotten worse.

Yah. I don't pretend to fully understand the events. What I can understand is the leadership of the Pentagon, the military forces, and even the diplomats were caught off guard when he made a decision on a whim. That can be just fine in some things, but I imagine the stakes are higher when you're talking isis.

What's even sadder is that I'm not sure he did this for any reason other than personal gain, whether he thought they'd take away his Trump towers, or he was trying to change the narrative in the media. Whatever the reason, I would hope future decisons have actual plans with them..

There's this thing called diplomacy, where you talk with the pertinent parties and figure out a solution. You don't just get on the phone with the guy who wants to bomb your allies and say "oh ok, knock yourself out." You do the hard work of figuring out a solution that doesn't include slaughtering our allies.

Instead of that, we have our best allies in the region turning to Putin and Assad for help, as they get attacked by Turkey.

By your logic, if Poland attacked England, you'd be proclaiming "Poland is our ally too!" instead of suggesting that we try to help our allies avoid conflict in the first place.
