Abortion is fucked up. Its sad. I don't recommend anyone doing it. But I also believe it is the woman's decision and no one elses.

Who is the person? Are they elderly? A child? Disabled? How far away are they? How far is the drop into the river? Would trying to save the kid put the person in the way of danger? Are there sharks in the water? Are there other people around?
If we are going to play hypothetical games to find exceptions to make the rules we aren't going to get anywhere.

I ask these kinds of questions because they speak to personal and social responsibility. You try to insulate yourself from the decision and the outcome of that decision saying that you think it's "fucked up". The fact is, there is no such thing as an innocent bystander in any situation. Either you choose to act and thus directly influence the outcome of the situation for good or bad or you choose to not act and thus accept the outcome however it may come. A choice not to act is still a choice and in this case a tacit approval of the outcome. No matter how you cut it, acceptance of this procedure is tacit approval and at worst, agreement by neglect.
I get what you are saying here. A good example of shared responsibility is in the face of genocide like the Holocaust. Standing by and doing nothing when you know the Nazi's are shipping people to camps to exterminate them is inexcusable.
But we are talking about an underdeveloped fetus connected to a woman by umbilical cord in her own womb here. I can agree with you that my belief that a woman makes her own choice means I am tacitly approving the procedure.

Ok, ok, Nebuchadnezzar. Lets set the religion aside simplicity's sake. Its almost 2020 and its a world ruled by laws of the people.
I'm beginning to wonder where all this is coming from for you. The way you are arguing this it does not sound like its coming from a place of compassion. I'm not hearing "save the poor babies" as much as I'm hearing "you're a baby murderer".
When you consider this whole subject what is the primary feeling you get? What is the strongest emotion that comes up for you when you think about a woman getting an abortion?
