Here's Sanders trying hard not to sound like a senile old man when asked why he won't call Maduro a dictator:
Can you believe this shit? "There are still democratic operations taking place in that country." The fuck there are. Maduro managed to basically replace the equivalent of our Congress with another body that is made up almost entirely of people loyal to Maduro. And their supreme court, who ALSO is mostly stacked with Maduro loyalists, allowed this to happen. But this man isn't a dictator because there are still democratic operations taking place in that country. Sanders just needs to go away already. He's even more useless than Cortez, and I don't even know how that's possible.“It’s fair to say the last election was undemocratic, but there are still democratic operations taking place in that country,” Sanders said. “What I am calling for right now is internationally supervised free elections.”
Sanders HAS defended Maduro by refusing to refer to him as a dictator, and jailing reporters for asking the wrong questions is exactly what a dictator would do. All of the signs of a dictator are right there on fully display yet Sanders refuses to call him one. Why is that? Yet here you are calling Trump a dictator even though he hasn't done anything remotely the same as Maduro has. Maybe you should just stop voting until you do at least the bare minimum of research into the candidates.
That other poster was right. You read waaaaaay to much into things. But thank you for providing what the people you criticize actually say. Everyone can make up their own minds about it when they have the facts presented to them instead of taking second, third, or a five billionth party removed interpretation about who said what.
Maduro has literally all of the signs of a dictator; seized power from the legislative body, obviously rigged the so called elections so he would stay in power, arrested political dissidents, stationed troops at the border to prevent his own people from leaving, burning aid convoys that were sent to help his own people, has his military attack and kill protesters, is accused of actually hiring drug gangs to enforce his rule upon his citizens, and is now detaining reporters for asking the wrong questions. The only thing missing is for Maduro to go in front of a camera and proclaim "Yes I am a dictator and I love every minute of it!"
But apparently that's me reading "waaaaaay to much into things" and thinking Sanders is a complete piece of shit for refusing to call Maduro exactly what he is. Again turn off CNN once in a while and crack open a damn newspaper that isn't pushing "Orange man bad!" 24/7 because having to explain the simplest of things to you is getting tiresome.

Oh yeah let's not forgot the other hallmark of a dictator; starving your own people while giving your military and those most loyal to you enough to eat to keep them loyal to you.
And right back to Trump. "It's okay that Sanders won't call Maduro a dictator because Trump is trying diplomacy with another brutal, dangerous dictator who has nuclear weapons!!"
Let me guess; you thought Kim was just the funniest man in the world back when he was calling Trump deranged right? Do you have any morals left in your body at all? Or have you stripped yourself of those pesky things to make room for more Trump hatred at every turn?

Apparently the part of the interview that upset Maduro so much was when the reporter showed him a video of children picking through garbage in a garbage truck looking for food to eat. In the video the kids do find food and eat it. Yes kids literally picking through garbage and eating the food they find to survive.
Oh yeah and the reporter who was detained and had his phone and equipment confiscated is an American citizen. People cried more because of a non-American journalist was murdered by Saudi Arabia. But...but Trump likes Saudi Arabia so we can use that to bash Trump!
Trump hates Maduro so clearly attacking Maduro for detaining an actual American citizen won't go over well with the Trump Derangement Syndrome crowd. Gotta report on this shit low key.

I decided to look up this story. The reporter (journalist) who was detained was Jorge Ramos from Univision. He is a Mexican-born American citizen who once was thrown out of a press pool for asking Trump a tough question. He and his crew were release after 10 hours, but their equipment was confiscated.
Jamal Khashoggi was a long-time Saudi Arabian journalist who recently became a harsh critic of first prince to the king.
You can find many articles on both stories but you won't hear much on all the mainstream televised news casts including FOX News. To be fair the visual media streams that we have can only fit so much news into their time slots so we only get the most sensational stories. Same with their websites. Only so much real estate on the front pages with all the monetized click-bait ads.
I agree that the treatment of journalists in these examples and others in recent history is alarming.
