The current state of reporting on the situation right now is a mess. It's Shrodinger's cat: politics edition.
This feels like a situation where a group of people went out proactively to the press to try to cover this whole thing in confusion- which makes me suspect that Rosenstein is actually being fired. But who knows?

Sounds like the WH wants it to seem like he resigned so they can make use of the vacancy act.
So Trumps on vacation. That kills my theory that he'd never fire him face to face. I can't imagine any world where Rosenstein resigns on his own.
It's a sad sad state of affairs that our country is in this crisis. All because republicans assigned a republican to be a special counsel. Now those republicans have flip flopped.
New White House statement- Rosenstein isn't out exactly, but he's meeting with Trump this coming Thursday.
No real word on what the expected outcome is.
The timing- Thursday- is also a bit suspect
