You're getting gentrified right out of the old neighborhood. I wonder how that will play out now that it's happening in "nice" areas.

    Wait- *I* didn't buy it.

Good lord, we rent the house next door that isn't 3000 sq ft.

Also we're part of the gentrification =/

You are the one that keeps bringing up billionaires. Spoiler alert: They mean billionaires aren't the reason you can't buy a shitty house. That's all on you kid.

Then what about the million+ professionals in my position, Carnegie Mellon grad full fucking scholarship, still worked 2 jobs to the point where I was getting 4 hours a sleep a night, enlisted in the military after 9/11 served honorably, did every fucking thing right but can’t buy a very modest home because what? I didn’t win the lottery? You’re living in a dreamworld PB, god damn did not know hot tub installers clear half a mil+ a year.. gonna have to have words with my guidance counselor.
If you aren't living the type of life you want to lead.. then change. Move away to somewhere more affordable. Get a higher paying job. Get a 2nd job. Start a business.

Blaming anyone but yourself for your money problems isn't the answer though. Sorry. That's your liberal mindset shining through.

I’m just super curious PB, like seriously, what exactly do you do for a living that you can so frivolously blow 1.3 mil on a 30 year rundown 2500 sq ft house? Perhaps, you can teach us rather than judging, I want to learn from the master.
Yeah he's not worth your time.

The worst part about the home prices, though, isn't the mortgage.

It's the down payment. Having to put down $300k isn't easy. You basically have to either already have some sort of trust fund or inheritance or major equity in a tech company that's gone public. Most people aren't just saving up by putting a little bit away each paycheck.

You're talking to a completely made up persona, btw.

Candidly, for this area that's a pretty typical price for a 1400 sq ft house in Silicon Valley. I don't live right across from MPK, but that's what houses in my area cost too. A bit more than that actually.

And you know, I don’t know how old you are but it’s PB’s generation that really fucked this awesome country. The baby boomers effectively stole their unborn kids credit card and front loaded their living standard, asset bubble after asset bubble it’s absolutely insane but I guess it’s genius in one way. By the time the ‘bill comes due’ it will be the millenials that will have to pay for 3 generations worth of gaudy excess, these baby boomers will be long dead. Heck, theres that retarded quote by another old timer here who uses it as his handle, it goes “if you die owing money, you win!” NO SIR, your kids end up paying for it!
Definitely agree about the Boomers. Worst generation ever.

As for the real estate prices I guess that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Perhaps employers there can set up "man camps". LOL
