The problem is, in many cases, he is right. He may be over simplifying the issue and stating it in an insensitive manner, however for decades in the US pain killers have been grossly over prescribed. Much of that is at the behest of a generation of childish pussies that never learned that sometimes life hurts a little and you need to grow tougher. Now, before you scream and yell all over the place, there is a genuine need for real pain management in a lot of cases and there is serious abuse by doctors who just want the cash from the office visit. I do not agree with the lunacy in the effort to combat abuse that has happened requiring drug tests for prescriptions and so on that has driven them up into the thousands of dollars per test range for something no more accurate than the 70-80 dollar test at Walmart other than the fact some lab signed off on it. We also need to spend more time and effort on developing real and effective treatments for addiction instead of the feel good muddling around that so many "treatment" centers do and then charge tens of thousands for the privilege.
OH and to cut off another bullshit answer, legalizing pot isn't going to do it.
