And that it's actually harder on the poor white slave owners than it is on the slaves.

A twisted sense of it being a "necessary evil" to better a race through subjugation and violence doesn't mean that the man wasn't racist or that his beliefs were somehow not awful.

Funny how you're applying 2017 standards to 1800s culture. Either way it still doesn't change the fact that had Virginia not seceded, Lee would have fought for the Union. Then he would magically be not racist, right?

It's also funny how you seem to think lines of thought like his weren't commonplace at the time, north or south. For the time his views on it were probably pretty progressive. Old progressive that is, not the new 2017 regressive progressive.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me personally, I'd rather be put out in a field to pick cotton or whatever than have to deal with surviving in Africa. How about you?

Yeah I don't think you'd want to be a slave. Just saying.

Remember when we had this exact same discussion like a month or 2 ago in another thread, it was answered, and your response was basically "NUH UH!"? Remember when someone already documented the answer to your post in this thread too? Try to keep up. Or maybe do some historical fucking research instead of taking everything the MSM tells you to think as gospel. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you think Charlie Chaplin and his Nazi army tried to take over the world until the Un Un-Nazi'd the world.

That talk of loyalty to Virginia is equally ridiculous.
State loyalty > federal loyalty back then. That applied to pretty much everyone during that time. Perhaps if you picked up a book now and then you'd learn something. But first you'd have to accept the fact that facts won't always agree with your precious feelings.

This is why it's extra hilarious when you try to talk shit about anyone else, like literally anyone at all including an amoeba, being uneducated.

    Speaking of amoebas...

I didn't say that he was alone in his beliefs. If you want to consider "it's a necessary evil for their own good and it's harder on us white folks, really" to be not believing in slavery or worth being called racist then...I don't even know what to say. Have a nice day, I guess?

All your talk about seeing the past through the veil of the present does not explain why there were so many people against slavery back then.

Oh right, I forgot. Please tell me more about how the north was so welcoming to black people even after slavery was abolished.

Since you have trouble doing things like research or thinking for yourself, here's what was already posted both in this thread and the other thread where we had the exact same discussion that your fringe ideology prevents you from actually learning anything from because of your intolerance against anything you disagree with, regardless of what the facts are.

I have yet to see where Lee is some great American hero we should honor. I suppose that must just be my "fringe" belief that slavery is, was, and will always be wrong.

If the alternative was trying to survive in the wilds of Africa, sure I would. Both would still suck, but I think it's safe to say that not having to worry about being eaten by lions on a daily basis or whatever while also trying to not starve to death and all that would suck less than being in a field all day.

This is disregarding the fact of most of the slave traders in Africa being black. Are they racist for selling other black people into slavery?

Did I say that? Do you even remember the question you asked that I posted that link in response to? Or are you still hammered from Tuesday?
