Do you have some source saying they were standing in the roadway purposefully blocking cars in protest? Or especially that they were attacking vehicles? From everything I see, this was not people linked arm in arm blocking a roadway, this was a group of people moving from one place to another. And it was not a busy road, you can see that in the videos. You can also see in the videos that the crowd was moving. There were already cars parked waiting for people to cross the road when this guy rammed his way through.
