With the current suicide and mental illness situation with our military and veterans, it seems like a good idea to not expose any individual who could even possibly be mentally unstable to military service. Military service is stressful in general, not even putting combat service into considerations. You're away from home, friends and family. Working long hard hours under physical and mental stress.
With one breath I have heard people bash the military for being a bunch of people who aren't smart enough for college, government leeches who can't hold a real job, and people that end up damaged goods with PTSD. With their next breath they want to allow trannies into the military because it's their "right" to serve. Military service is a privilege, not a right.

I'm not sure exactly where the point got changed here, but remember in the 80s when the movie Stripes came out and the premise was "Well we suck at life. Let's join the military for some money"? And then in the 90s when In The Army Now came out and the premise was "Well we suck at life. Let's join the military for some money"? That's generally been how military service has been viewed for a long time now. And by a long time now, I mean pretty much all of recorded history except in the instance of slave armies and short term membership boosts around nationalistic rallying cries.
