Other people breaking the law doesn't somehow negate you breaking the law as well. That part of your story should be "I was speeding and got pulled over" and shouldn't be included in a list of "bad things that just happened to me today."

That's crazy. From my own experience in South Florida, no one would ever pull you over for going 10 miles or less over the limit. In fact, in a lot of places here, if you're going the limit, you're causing a safety hazard. It's pretty scary.
