They were designed for an era when traditional ship to ship combat was the norm. Now you can fit those missiles on smaller, faster plarforms and get a better result.

Actually, big ships are facing issues from advanced cruise missiles. They are giant targets.

Both of which are more vulnerable to anti-air defense. They do have the advantage of range. Guns on the battleship range between 10-25 miles but with newer sabot rounds that extends to over 100 miles.
