I'm not trying to minimize anyone's service. Like I said, a deployment is a deployment. I've had some easy ones (Japan) and I've had some not so easy ones (Iraq, Shiek Isa), but they're all deployments and all in the line of duty!

Sure, a deployment is a deployment. A long time away from home, family, etc; but, anyone who's been deployed there knows there's a difference between living in Qatar or being sent to another location.

I will just state this: Al Udeid is where the grunts in Afghanistan go for R&R during their deployments.

I certainly won't deny that the quality of life at Al Udeid is miles ahead of other bases and outposts (billions have been spent there since it opened) but that does not negate the importance of the mission there and the hard and vital work done there by military and civilian personnel.

Getting underway makes me frown. My life is fucking awesome. Have you seen Top Gun? I'm like Goose (in a different plane).....except I'm still alive and kicking ass at life and beach volleyball.

Nowhere crazy, just up and down the east coast. We cruised in the Arabian Gulf (Feb-Nov) last year, and now we're just maintaining readiness and providing CQ (carrier qualifications) for some F-18 squadrons.

It's only a 2-week underway and after this we're headed into the yards.

Are there any active naval air stations in the New England area these days? I've been seeing a bunch of F-18s flying overhead lately (southern NH)

I almost made a new thread, "Things that made you wanna kill someone today" but I figured it would be in bad taste.

I saw a commercial while watching a show on Hulu, about a new show called Lip Sync Battle. Looked cool, tried to find it on my suddenlink DVR to record it.. and recalled balatedly that Suddenlink dropped Spike TV from its channel lineup. I only went to the DVR cause I didn't wanna wait a week or more to see the new episodes on Hulu. I went back to Hulu.. and figured out THEY DON'T 'televise'? the show either, even though I saw the commercial there.

SO, I went to the spike website... AND THEY WONT SHOW IT TO ME EITHER! Apparently since suddenlink won't pay viacom the price they want for their stations, they are filtering out suddenlink internet users and not allowing them to access the shows. I think viacom is being childish.

Anyhow if you got Spike, go watch Lip Sync Battle for me...

PS, Couldn't find it on Amazon tv either, even for paid episodes. Only found clips on youtube so far.
