More than half a dozen cops. Sorry, but I sincerely doubt they couldn't have all just taken a limb and restrained him. Instead, it was a couple of them trying to handle him and the rest standing there like idiots.
It's hard to see, I had to try and watch it frame by frame a few times.
At the 18 second mark is when you can first clearly hear an officer say "drop the gun" and at the 23 second mark is when the first shot is fired.
At the 16 second mark it does look like someone is grabbing onto/reaching for the back officer's gun but then the other cop blocks the view shortly after that. You can see the gun clearly at the 19 second mark and no one is grabbing it but this doesn't mean the person isn't still attempting to reach it, but again the view is quickly blocked by the officer's arm. Again you can clearly see the gun at the 20 second mark and no one has a hold of it but at the 22 second mark it looks like the officer whose gun is being messed with is placing his hand on his gun and pushing it back, like he's trying to keep the guy from grabbing it. Also shortly after the guy is shot the officer is kneeling and it looks like he's grabbing his gun and he continues to handle it until he stands up and it looks like he's trying to make sure it's secure in his holster.

There were two on the skinny woman(?) and four on the other guy, who was thrashing around pretty good. He might have been on something, and it's not as easy to restrain someone as you might think.

Cops sucked here. If he took the officer's gun, the shooting is valid, but how in the living shit was he able to take an officer's gun? This guy shouldn't be dead right now. It was the police who fucked up here no matter what.

He didn't take the officer's gun, they are saying he was reaching for it. It was only a matter of 7 seconds between the guy reaching for the gun and being shot. It doesn't even look like the officer whose gun was being grabbed even realized the guy was reaching for his gun until the very end of the confrontation. The guy was clearly crazy or on drugs or both just going by his behavior at the very beginning of the video.
