I encourage everyone to read the actual study, even recognizing that that will never ever happen. They aren't actually comparing toxic dose to effective dose, obviously, because 1 dose of alcohol isn't deadly. They also draw a distinction between risk to individual and risk to population and quantitatively weigh both, an approach that is quite interesting, although they bizarrely claim they couldn't identify a dose-response curve for mental health problems caused by cannabis, which undermines their analysis quite significantly. The more I read it, the more I think they're hamstrung by relying on animal testing.
All in all, I'm not surprised you drew the conclusion you did, but I am disappointed. I am greatly cheered by your coining of schizophobic, though! Doesn't matter, for two reasons:
1. Things that are prohibitively unlikely to happen are irrelevant.
2. Our food/drug policy isn't based on lethality, and it would be silly if it was.
